Hi everyone, I hope you are doing swell.
This week I significantly improved the visuals of the terrain and the gameplay environment in general.
New Terrain Textures

To accommodate for all the changes I've made this week I had to adapt the post processing, which is why everything appears more blue now. Let me know what you think of this change in the comments section!
As you see, I completely changed the textures used for the terrain.
Perhaps it looks a bit less realistic, but more importantly the terrain surface looks a lot more interesting in my opinion.
Additionally, by replacing the premium Microsplat terrain shader with my own simplified shader, performance is significantly improved on low- to mid tier graphics cards.
Terrain shading has also improved as a side effect...

For more visual variety I created new shaders for water surfaces and ice chunks:
I also introduced a new ice surface:
An Attempt at Sparkling Snow
I tried making the snow on the terrain sparkle realistically, hoping that it would make the snow even more tangible, like you could almost touch it! However, I didn't have much luck so far.
Maybe I'll give it another try at a later point in development...
Do you think that glittering snow could significantly improve visuals or does it not really matter that much?
