Level Design of our project "Somber Home", the house Thumbnails and its environment.

Posted by on

Hey everybody! Peter's here, first of all, I would like to apologize for our updates delay. We have been a little slow with this project, we did not progress much from our last update.

Today we will present you our Level Design, so far we have made a thumbnail for each house partition, making a small house diagram.

Level Design

During the game you play in a small house owned by the main character's mother, it will have a total of 5 rooms, such as the characters bedrooms, the hallway, the living room and the kitchen.

On the hallway we have a connection between our character's rooms and the living room, where our main character will find himself alone in the dark, making it harder and scarier for the player to explore its home, making him walk through the darkness. On the boy's bedroom, he will find there his toys and its bed, where he will spend the night. On his mother's room, the kid will be able to find his mother's belongings, such as a safe that will keep a big secret for the game, both rooms will be properly furnished with special objects from each character.

The kitchen and the living room are the main areas of the game, where the player will spend most of his time. There, the player can consider it a safe zone, which will have a small illumination that will allow the player to see the surroundings without too much difficulty, these areas will have to be unlocked in the course of the game and illuminated to provide better visibility for the player. These areas will have some small puzzles that will allow the character to progress in the game.

With this post, we were able to show you a small, low-quality fragment of what the game map layout will look like. Remembering you that these are only thumbnails, there is the possibility of changing them to a different shape.

With all that said, I'll end this post here. See you next time!
