In this 4th devlog i go through development process of me building from scratch one of the asian inspired levels for my indie game Slaughter Cats. This level aesthetic was heavily inspired by the forests in Japan and particularly the forest surrounding Fushimi Inari Shrine in Kyoto and the shrine itself. While i didn't get the result i planned 100%, i think the result produced was decent and is a good contrast with my other levels in this environment type but i may come back as i go through the game dev journey and revise and edit things here and there. Obviously there was fair bit more game development work involved; probably 30 - 40+ hours including testing to get this environment to the end result seen in the video but the video covers most of the main milestones in the creation of this level.

Slaughter Cats is a brutal 1-4 Player 3D side scrolling beat'em up platformer combining the chaotic fun of beat'em ups and the skillful precision of classic platformers. Slaughter your enemies in single player, local or online co-op or PVP with up to 4 players in Arcade, Deathmatch or Horde. Coming to Steam on PC and hopefully Xbox and Playstation.
