We are so close to releasing the game, now what's left is just some minor bugs and a lot of balancing...

This week, in "Kurofune: Descobrimos Portugueses", we are talking about how our experience while balancing the game.

Hello everyone, we are back! Welcome to another article from 3PAStudios.
So we are back at our game development side of things, talking this week about balancing the game.

Balancing

Depending on the type of game, this can be more or less difficult, in our case, doing a strategy game, this is extremely hard, since changing a single value or item can alter everything since it's all connected.

In our case, this is mostly done with the aid of multiple excels, everything is detailed and accounted for, connected to every other thing in the game that could be affected.

Testing... and more testing (and even more...)

We are 4 people making this game, every single day we all test the game, searching for bugs and different interactions that can give the player an unfair advantage or an unusable start because the game is not balanced currently.

As the developers of the game, you know better what to look for as in what needs to be tested, but having outside testers are a great help, they try the game in an unbiased way, sometimes trying something that nobody has even tried.
