In this post for our Dev Diary, we want to reveal the secret of the development of “Sugar Mess - Let’s Play Jolly Battle. Chapter II”. These are 10 completely new game levels for players who will cope with the first 10 levels of Chapter I. So, we will tell you about new level concepts.
Chapter II: The plot
The Sugar Kingdom is suddenly attacked by cakes. Sugar Prince, armed with an arsenal of sweet weapons, repels the attacks of opponents. He goes on a journey through the Kingdom to find out who dared to attack him?
Starting in Chapter I, a player gets into a stylized hub, that is actually a Prince’s room. In order to start the game, the player learns a lot of interesting things from an interactive pop-up book that is placed in the center of the hub. Every book spread unveils the Prince’s story. The book actually gives to the player a short version of the plot and cutscenes themselves.
The setting
After successfully completing the levels of Chapter I, players will unlock the challenging mode of Chapter II with its 10 new levels. To access this mode, players interact with a lever in the main hub area, triggering a transition to a completely new landscape. This new land presents players 10 fresh challenges and obstacles, effectively replacing the old map with an entirely new one.
The levels introduce a variety of challenges, each offering a unique experience.
Each level presents distinct obstacles, ensuring a diverse and engaging gameplay journey.
After successfully completing the entire challenging mode (Chapter II), players are rewarded with exclusive items: three skins for default guns and four additional guns.
These rewards can be used in the Arena mode - the extra level, in co-op mode, enhancing the player's arsenal and customization options.
