So this week I worked on the boss in the final room of the fortress - the Orc.
Similar to other enemies, he'll try to hit you over the head with his giant club until you stop moving, but unlike other enemies, he has his own special thing.
When his health drops below a certain amount, he'll retreat to his throne - and summon some help.
Whilst he retreats and whilst he's on the throne, he's invulnerable to damage, but you'll have your hands full anyway with the goblins that he's spawned to help defeat you.
Of particular interest, however, is the goblin dragging a crate with health potions.
This particular goblin does not attack, but slowly drags his load over to the orc boss.
Should he reach the orc, then the orc grabs a potion and heals himself.
Shortly after that, he'll continue the fight. If you defeat the delivery-goblin in time however, the boss will continue the fight immediately. This means there's a balance to be struck between defeating the armed goblins, and preventing the goblin with the health potions from reaching his master.
The orc boss will go through two such iterations - with the health potion healing him by 1/4th of his max health each time. I'll be adding a suitable upgrade to reduce the impact of the potion or reduce the amount of times this goblin is called.
And that about wraps it up for this week. Next week I have to finish some other things on this map, such as the boss' defeat, and then when I'm entirely finished with this - I'll start on the battering ram map.
