Welcome to a new devlog for Assembly RTS, the physics-based real-time strategy game!
Hi everyone, this week I added different times of the day and a snow storm weather effect to the game.
I set up the snow storm shaders in such a way that the 'particles' can curve along their path in space. However, integrating a wind direction tool into the map editor will have to wait until a later time.
Initially I tried creating a snow storm with Unity's VFX Graph.
As expected, it was a massive drain on FPS.
I figured out a way to create the appearance of millions of 'particles' moving through space using a shader.
This is way better in terms of performance.
Some early snow redirection progress (has since has been improved to be completely seamless):
Different Daytime and Weather Scenarios:
Morning + Snow Storm
Midday
Overcast + Snow Storm
Evening
Sunset + Snow Storm
Night time
That's is it for this devlog. Don't forget to wishlist Assembly RTS - Unleash Your Forces if you're interested!
Congratulations on the progress! Keep it up!
Thanks, will do!
