In this devlog I am talking about potions that our heroes can drink and which will affect their health or physical parameters.

Potions

Potions are objects that our heroes will drink as soon as they come into contact with them. Because, as you probably noticed earlier, actions are performed automatically in Two Souls - whether it's walking through a door, switching a lever, or drinking potions contained in colorful vials. These, in turn, cause various effects on the heroes. Potions are very light and very delicate items. It really doesn't take much to destroy them or move them to an inaccessible place. Okay, let's discuss them.

HP Potions

First, we will take the most standard potions possible: a healing potion and a potion that increases maximum health. In the following colors: red and purple. It is worth noting that both the knight and the princess start each level with one only one life point. They are represented by hearts at the top of the interface. So, unless you first come across a bottle that increases your maximum health level while exploring the level, the red healing bottle will have no effect... because in order to heal any damage, you must first receive it - this is rather a standard rule. These bottles in Two Souls have two functions. The first is, of course, to reduce the difficulty level, which means, as you guessed: on the highest level, you probably won't encounter them very often. The second one may simply be a necessary part of the strategy in completing the level. It may happen that avoiding a trap will not be possible and you will simply have to take the damage on your chest - of course, most often the knight's chest.

Parameter potions

The second group of potions are those that affect the physical parameters of the character. Here we will find a blue bottle which, when consumed, will change the character's jump height, a green bottle which will change the movement speed of the character who drank it, and a yellow bottle which will affect the character's size. Please note that my choice of words was not accidental: changing the jump height will not always be a positive, just like changing speed or size. And yes, you guessed it right: you don't always have to drink everything in sight - life, right? - sometimes you have to leave something for the other character, and sometimes...: well, it might just be one vial too many.

Steering potions

The third type of potions are those that modify the controls. And because the controls are completely simple, there is only one potion in this group: control inversion. In short: the character who drinks it will move in the opposite direction than it should result from pressing keys or moving knobs on the pad. Of course, the characters will still move simultaneously, but in opposite directions. And as usual: in some cases it may only be an inconvenience. In some, allowing you to complete a level. And in some... well, maybe I won't reveal it here.
