Unfortunately. Unable to acquire a programmer interested in helping me out, and no artists to create decent looking art, sadly just didn't come about. However, I am working on stuff, just doesn't happen to be the rake at this time. Sorry :(

I retract my previous statement, unfortunately. Unable to acquire a programmer interested in helping me out, and no artists to create decent looking art, sadly just didn't come about. However, I am working on stuff, just doesn't happen to be the rake at this time. Sorry :(

Thanks dude :D Honestly, I know it _seems_ dead, but a lot of under wraps stuff has been going on, and I cannot wait to talk about it. Please stay tuned, were definitely still on it!

You know, this is the exact reason I wanted this game on ModDB/IndieDB as fast as possible, I like the idea of a Sanity system, and I will definitely check out CoC very soon. I appreciate your feedback very much

Cheers!

The last time i was ModDB this mod was still on UT2k4.
Every single time ive come back to this site ive made it a point to check out the progress on this mod, and each time im blown away with how great it looks.
Makes me wish I could play the tech demo at this moment in time...

thats the sad thing about text, over-exaggeration doesn't come through nearly as well as one would hope :(

i still say smoothen out the wheels, not doubling the polys of them, but enough to make it look like they were less chiseled out of stone.

While i exaggerated on the number, my point still stands, polygons no longer hurt video cards as much since the GeForce 8x and ATi HD series of cards, which are standards and easily accessible in this day and age. The #1 contributing factors to framerate loss are super high resolution shaders, accurate Physics, and fancy realtime lighting effects.
of course Polys play a role too, but major advances in polygon crunching have been in play for at least 5-6 years now

HL2s admittedly shallow normal mapping capabilities wont be enough to "smoothen out" flat space. Remember, all Normal Maps do is trick the lighting into thinking theres elevation when really its still along a flat polygon.

Sorry buddy, but im gonna have to agree with Craz there, id say smoothen the wheels with some actual geometry rather than on the hope and prayer the color and normal maps will "smoothen it out", its not going to kill the Source engine anyways considering there's around ten thousand polygons on any NPCs face :p Because right now it looks like a blemish on an otherwise fantastic model

LODs will handle your optimization just fine, id say these wheels should be at about LOD2, but for up close and personal? Textures or not, its going to be very noticeable :(

our character models, hah, we dont realyl have a set theme. Much like Quake3 i guess. Not one of the characters ever really looked or felt the same. So i guess anything would do really.

Actually something liek this will be in a contest im thinking of setting up..

its a religious feel. Plus the same white coated wax is boring.

*sigh*

We will no longer be tolerating meaningless bad comments. We like "cool" and "awsome" because that shows that were probably on the right track, or so it seems. But if you dont like something, let us know. Simply saying "This looks like ***" doesn't really help us out at all. These comments will no longer be tolerated and will be deleted on sight.

Also expect these to be floating and spinning, as well as all items.
