Are you a 3D artist? Are you looking for some inspiration? Do you just want to collaborate or know who your fellow ModDB artists are? Doesn't matter what application you use or how you do it... if you're a modeller, animator, skinner or looking at getting started with 3D, then this is the group for you!
I'm new to the group but I've seen some pretty impressive work here so I figured I post a render of my latest model and see if anyone has any criticism/advise for me.
It is a Springfield XDM. Just finished the model. Gonna move on to textures, normals, and specular soon.
Looking very nice. Can we see a wireframe in the next post and a preview of the model standing?
Thanks! I am very happy with it so far.
I have uploaded a wireframe render of it in my profile. Also there is a video over there where I animated the disassembly just for the heck of it, lol.
btw, I was looking through the images in your profile. Your texture work is really incredible. I would greatly appreciate any advice/pointers you might have for texturing this thing.
Atm there are way too many hard edges for my liking it seems like you have a grasp of the basic shape but you need to work on making the geometrey clean and cut some more polygons in the corner to give the effect of a smooth curve. Keep at it though its looking good.
Edit just saw your wire frame on your profile you need to also make sure you use as little triangular geometry as possible as it will produce bugs in the lighting and make correct uv mapping a lot more difficult.
Thanks for the advice, I will keep it in mind as I continue.
