If just a single problem, even if as big that you had, makes you give up on your whole project, then you can't really be 100% serious about your projects. And if you aren't 100% serious, the project will almost always fail.
I don't think you should rely on Legacy's look so much. There's so much more to tron than glossy black surfaces with a few glowing bars on em. I'd go back and draw from the intricate circuitry of the 1982 movie, and even go as far as to pull inspiration from it's concept art (the stuff that was too ambitious for them to pull off at the time). Even Tron 2.0 had a lot of good ideas with it's "half complete" characters with missing pieces and disconnected floating body parts.
