Flute Master is a videogame where you have the opportunity to learn how to play the recorder (that annoying flute instrument that you probably had to learn in music classes ;)), but this time having fun!
You and Oratio will help the dragon Cornelius protect his tower of strawberries from evil bats. Silly as it seems, in the World of Music bats love strawberries!
Your job is to play notes on your recorder as the bats approach the tower. Cornelius will breathe fire through the tower windows that correspond to the music note you're playing, and this will protect the strawberries from the bats.
You'll play 27 unique music tracks that gradually teach you each note on the recorder. By the time you finish the game, you'll be playing great recorder tunes! ;)
Try to score as high as you can and... scare those bats away!
Featuring:
✔ Game-based learning to introduce you to the recorder.
✔ Amusing story with cute characters.
✔ 27 exclusive music tracks composed with background in music education.
✔ Real-time detection of the instrument, using your microphone.
✔ Innovative learning system for finger positioning and sheet music reading.
✔ Notes are associated with colors, for easier recognition.
✔ A scoring system that adds value to the game.
✔ Many languages available! English, Portuguese (PT and BR), German, Spanish and French.
The game is available for Windows (desktop), Mac OS X, iOS and Android.
You can get it here (free to try):

Nice game ; my four children got immediatly hooked, spent a few hours on the sole demo it and its a success from that point of view.
It really needs an good microphone and a pair of headphones.
From an adult point of view, I question the ability to teach music that way ; notes names should be displayed either on the bats or on the tower ; it should be possible to switch from bats to real score. There should be a way to inject one's personnal scores (midi ?). Or to get upgrades.
The free trial gives access to the first 6 tracks ; the upgrade to the remaining 21 tracks is 9,99, which is a high fee for the value. The Windows version is 9,99, the Android is 5,49 go figure.
IMHO this is a good idea which is not developped to its full potential. I give it a 8.
