Dev Diary 65

Good day, everyone!

We have two types of updates for today: graphic and musical.

The first update is about harmful blue crystals in the golden environment. We had some issues with the level of dangerousness emitted from these crystals - our test players didn’t think that they would get hurt by touching them. So we turned the danger levels up by making the crystals glow more maliciously. You can see the comparison in the picture below.

The new more glowing crystal is on the left and on the right is the old one.

We’ve also modified the moving platform that’s under the blue crystals, making it longer for easier manoeuvring while jumping back from the dangerous crystals.

In the second update, we present you one new soundtrack song.

To show you also some technical background, we’ll also take a look at the three plugins (equalizer, limiter, saturation) that were used in the master mix of the song. Since we can’t be sure you’ll all know what we’re trying to talk about, we’ll try to make it fun and use some gardening metaphors!

Pretend that the audio track is grass in your garden. First, let’s talk about what an equalizer does with our fictional lawn - you can use it to level the ground, if you have some uneven ground with unwanted holes, or you can use the equalizer to create smooth hills or valleys. If you use a limiter effect, you are using a grass mower to cut down the grass stalks that are too high. And when you’re using the saturation effect, you’re making the grass stalks grow thicker. This is how the plugins with these effects that we’re using look like:
