Today, Plasticity Studios announces the launch of Tabletop Playground, the first highly-moddable board game sandbox for players to release on the Epic Games Store and Microsoft Store.
Tabletop Playground is a UGC-focused tabletop gaming sandbox for Windows and VR. Using JavaScript, creators can bring to life their own concepts for board games and play alone or with up to sixteen players simultaneously online. Then, they can upload their creations to mod.io, and players regardless of platform can then download and play the same experience. Over 800 games have already been shared.
"Using Unreal Engine, our aim with Tabletop Playground is to provide players with a board game experience that gets as close as you can to the real deal of playing in-person with friends. With the inclusion of cross-platform multiplayer with full UGC support, it's exciting to be able to release the first digital tabletop game that works seamlessly across multiple storefronts." said Robert Pröpper, game creator and founder of Plasticity Studios.
Since the Steam launch in 2020, frequent post-launch support for Tabletop Playground has seen the introduction of many hotly requested features, creating specialised functionality for both widespread and niche board games to be explored in full. Continual updates will ensure Tabletop Playground's relevance in the scene, regardless of platform, for the future.
