Westharrow Like Never Before
Our March update brings with it a complete foliage overhaul! The plant life in Strawhart has gone through many iterations over the months as we've tried to strike a balance between staying true to our 64-bit roots and making an environment that captures a sense of living wonder.
Nowhere was this more important than in the woods of Westharrow. Now the branches sway in the wind, leaves glide through the air, and the undergrowth rustles underfoot. To get a sense of how big the change was, take a look at how the woods looked before, back when the only wildlife that moved was trying to kill you:
Dynamic Environment Update
Of course, the plant life isn't the only thing moving in Westharrow. Back in February's update, we previewed some features of Strawhart's dynamic environments, and talked a little bit about how the sun would set if you lingered in the woods for too long. Well, now we're proud to show that sunset live (sped up, of course!).
A Year of Strawhart
It's been a little over a year since we first broke ground on Strawhart, and we've come a long way since then. From greyboxed levels to placeholder programmer art, there have been many iterations of Strawhart's worlds. To that end, we thought it'd be cool to show you a hallway both as it appears today, and as it appeared this time last year:
That's it for this update. Thanks for checking out Strawhart, everyone! Please feel free to leave any comments below and we'll try and get back to you!
