Hey!
What's happening?
I would like to introduce you to my long-term project called The Gray Man. It's a surreal point and click adventure game from the first person perspective of a serial killer, which puts the player in charge of becoming his conscience. Now with a brand new demo on Steam! Store.steampowered.com
Well. Sounds ambitious, but how can this work?
As a conscience, you have the opportunity to follow everything the main character does and goes through. You get a glimpse into his hidden memories that put him on this wicked path. However, you don't have the ability to manipulate him because there is an even more mysterious entity with you that is the main instigator, controlling behavior, lusts, and the desire to hurt.
You are exposed to many interpretations of his worldview, both external and internal, his struggle with himself, and it is up to you to help him. If you manage to weaken his inner will enough, you may end his story much sooner than you think. Or you can walk all the way to the end, learning the whole story through his memories, but at a terrible cost. You are in for a surreal journey through the subconscious, the inner demons and the bitter realities of the world.
I actually copied the synopsis from the Steam page. The game time is about 4-6 hours. I offer over 10 alternate endings and one main one to end the story. The story does have a lot of side branches, ways to complete a particular part, but everything only flows in one direction to the end. Everything is in English, but I am including my native language - Czech. The last important information is the presence of violence, blood, naked female bodies. All in pixel art visual style.
The game is almost finished. Now primarily debugging a lot of bugs. I'm trying to be more player friendly and want to add a few more helpers and difficulty compromises. I'm planning a release depending on a potential publisher, should one be found then. Otherwise, personally, definitely in the first half of the year.
Well... Try the demo right now! : Store.steampowered.com
(and if you enjoy it, don't forget to wishlist and follow, it helps a lot!)
I'd like to add an article soon about my approach to the game, my goals, my development processes, and more in-depth information about the mechanics. Thank you for your attention!
