Way back in the fall of 2010, when I was still reveling in the new-found glory of being a member of the FW:ToW team, Sushi approached me and asked me if I'd be interested in re-working Kuat Drive Yards and Mon Calamari Shipyards. I sort of soiled my pants a bit and ignored that request for a month or two (sorry Sush... stuff's downright terrifying). Eventually, I got comfortable enough to actually start working on them. You've all seen the models for both KDY and MCSY. I did them, and I was relieved.
But then time went on and they weren't getting used... because there were no textures. And our team at the time was horribly short on texture artists (We still are by the way, if you're interested, drop me a line). It was around this time I decided to man up and teach myself how to texture. You've all seen the results of that.
All the while, I was VERY aware of the monumental task that awaited me - the two shipyard sets I'd designed months prior. Eventually, I just gave up and started working on MCSY. Over the month or so I've been working on it, the most common word to come out of my mouth has been
"LIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINES"
Because, well, lines. Lines and lines and lines and lines. Straight lines, angular lines, lines that make your head go WUT. All hand drawn. But in the end it's been worth it, because I've been able to bring you all THIS -

Actually, EA contacted us to ask not to release the game before, as SWTOR should be out, and didn't want us to be a competition. Especially that the Space Combat in SWTOR will be quite boring.
Of course i'm joking.

I think I am the only one that thought this game would not come out before 2012. All the work that has been done in the past months is really above the ordinary, development seems to being accelerated, and even if you won't hit this deadline (you wouldn't be the first game-project) nobody could blame you. Thanks for your dedication to your work.

There are many good Freelancer mods. We strive to be the best Star Wars Freelancer mod, though ;)
Wait, so... Am I the only one whose going to point out that, for a fairly recently self-taught texturer, that is INCREDI-TASTIC WORK??
Amazing job on the shipyards. Clearly the Force is strong with this one. Were you able to turn off your targeting computer for that one? :P

Heh Sizer, I feel your pain, I avoided doing texture work for the longest time, especially with our mod using the BF2 engine which is infamously fiddly to work with for texturing, but like you, I had to man up and get some texture work in to fill the gap in the dev skill set.
You've done some cracking work here, and that textured Mon Cal shipyard looks fantastic. Nice job.

I was a long-time member of the ToW community back in the day, and was wondering whether the fighter flight style was like that in ToW, or will it continue to use Freeworlds?
Much more similar to ToW
