Alpha release information - the alpha is now available to download!

The alpha build has been released. Download now!

Welcome to Pit of Death Alpha, and thank you for giving my little game a try! While far from finished or being bug free/perfect don't expect too much, the game hasn't been optimized much (if at all) so expect some punishment to your fps.

To install: just extact the folder somewhere and run the pitofdeath.exe/pitofdeath file with the bacon box man head icon.

A controller can be semi used, it was already coded in the template I used, only there is no rag doll button (I'll plan on editing/adding it as an option though) but if you run into the pit, it hits a trigger sending bacon box man into rag doll anyways, otherwise the controls are:

WASD - standard movement controls
shift - run
space - jump
ragdoll - e
esc - pause
mouse scroll button (zoom in and out)
r - manual reset (for when you get stuck and your not reaching the bottom)

Controls can be found in the options menu of the main menu or pause menu.

options
it has a few graphical options, I've basically kept it simple but given them some names, just look for the first part and you'll get the idea (e.g. low baked potato is low settings preset) - I highly recommend using from medium to very high settings (known as "Medium Crispy Fusion", "High Polished Pixels" and "Epic Mythical Masterpiece") as the highest one ("Cinematic Quantum Hologram") doesn't really add anything graphical but takes a hard fps drop and will be fixed up and or removed from later releases.

It also has a vsync option as well as refresh rate option (sometimes when you change this, or the res the game might start to lag, simply just hit up or down on the Hz option and it should get over itself, it was a guessed code that i worked out so perhaps something i've not 100% done right. Just don't hit apply more than once as it will add more and more and cause the game to be unplayable.

you've got 3x screen options, windowed, fullscreen and windowed fullscreen. If you can't see the number/option clicking on the left or right button will get it to display the setting (not sure why it does this atm, another fix for the future)

LEVELS
THERE'S 5 LEVELS, BASICALLY ALL THE SAME BUT THE HIGHER THE LEVEL THE HIGHER THE TOWER GETS AND HARDER IT IS TO REACH THE BOTTOM (UNLESS YOU JUST HAPPEN TO HIT A SWEET SPOT OR SOMETHING AND FLY TO THE BOTTOM), YOU CAN PICK ANY LEVEL FROM THE START OR AS YOU PLAY, not having fun on a level? You can simply hit escape and select level select for another level.

feel free to give feedback, what you like/don't like/what it needs/what its missing/errors/crashes. I'll either try add it or simply won't know how to do certain things, but I will try my best.

things i do know whats wrong with the game/Plan on fixing:

no way to mute/control audio/music

you can keep pressing jump and e to make bacon box man make sounds *but not unragdoll or jump while in rag doll, which is what i want, i just don't want the sounds looping*

need to add a landing animation should the player fall off the edge, looks kinda weird falling mid jump pose.

no full controller support *yet*

multiple characters (hopefully coming soon, im mostly half way but will need to work the rest out because the tutorial turns to shit at part 3 and didn't work out for almost anyone who followed the 3 part series gg)

guy gets stuck on the bars - this is what makes somewhat a challange to the game (and it will happen alot) but the bar sound hit sound keeps playing and also you can still make walking/run sounds while in ragdoll/stuck on a bar. *I will try fix this*

due to the hitbox on the character comes with the character it plays the landing sound when he hits the ground (and sometimes bars I think) *May/may not attempt to mess around with it. its not a huge deal*

sometimes you'll reach the bottom and the finish point won't trigger (for whatever reason), simply hit a movement key (w,a,s,d) AND IT SHOULD TRIGGER IT, OTHERWISE JUST HIT R TO RESET, pause and select a new level.
