Amazing engine with a huge set of tools. One of the best engines out there for 2D games development.
The built-in script editor is makes it very comfortable to switch between scene and script edition. It also includes debugging tools and a profiler.
Another of its strengths lies in the animation system, which allows animating almost everything.
The engine is written in C++. You can code in C++ if you wish to, however Godot has a great scripting language called GDScript. The language has a similar syntax to Python and is greatly integrated with the engine.
The latter versions of the engine were focusing on usability improvements. You will notice it.
Godot has a great community that is willing to help you with any problem. You can ask questions on the Q&A site, reddit, the facebook group, or the IRC channel.
Did I mention it's FLOSS? :)
