Do you mean the seventh army doctrine? Because BotB has no "defense" tree. Just asking because if your command tree says 'defensive doctrine' then there is a problem with your download

No you don't need ToV, I don't have it, you just have to make sure your opposing fronts is patched all the way up to the latest version

And as for your other question about the 'woodland' version I can tell you that the BotB will not be doing it (you can see how long it takes us just to do botb!) and the more time goes by the less likely that would be...although if someone else wanted to do it I doubt that halftrack would object...

I'm sure you're not a useless player!! But you have to remember that really BotB is almost a completely different game, and even though we use Blitzkrieg's penetration system it is very different than Blitz...I'd recommend taking a look at the feature section here about some of the less obvious changes to the game that make a big difference to gameplay and our forums (http://botb.fiffa.net)where people talk about different BotB strategies. Just a couple pointers make sure you use scouts, and their observation ability, they are VERY important as well as pay attention to the territory you have control of...

The problem with complaints about balance are that for a lot of people it is subjective... I enjoy playing as both factions and while I'm not claiming the mod is perfectly balanced, I usually find that it is challenging but enjoyable. Sure I lose KTs or rifle squads unexpectedly sometimes, but that is part of the fun! This mod doesn't claim to be anything other than it is, and the way it is designed you have to approach it with a different mindset than CoH or most other mods. Now if there are consistent complaints about a particular unit or faction then it is taken into consideration. But honestly for the most part it is axis players complaining that their units are too weak and US are to strong or vice versa, and I think that says a lot. People tend to have their favorite factions and units and they want them to be 'live up to the legend' but the mod has to take into account not only realism but also gameplay. It can't be impossible for any particular faction to win, but not too easy either. I for one think halftrack has done a pretty outstanding job in this department, in many ways better than relic and i think that most players would as well if they let go of their preconceptions of what a 'CoH mod' can or should be....

funny, I've heard a lot of complaints on the BotB forums that the US is OP!!
But we will take all comments into consideration. As far as I know no weapons, armor or penetration values were changed in this release, just some tweaks to the AI. This release was mostly to get the mod operable with 2.6
Seriously though please go to our forums if you have bug issues or comments about balance etc, that way we have all the information in one place when (if) we get working on the next release

Seriously, why do you think people get into modding in the first place? To do the projects they want to see. We wanted to see the Battle of the Bulge campaign, so we (halftrack) made this mod. Its really that simple.

With this patch, and this mod, extremely. Relic has a history of releasing mod breaking patches, anyone who loved KMOD can tell you that, and the more changes the mod makes to gameplay, unit values and AI the harder it is

Sorry its been so long since any update...Real Life and all that.
Halftrack, the creator and main dev has pretty much lost interest since the game breaking ToV patch came out. He has been tinkering around trying to get the mod playable again but the fact is I think (trying not to put words in his mouth here) that he would rather focus his efforts on a new project rather than going back through the mod and try to fix it to get it to work properly under the new patches (with the possibility of another patch coming along and ruining all that hard work) There is a hotfix that some community members put together that allows the game to run with ToV but in my mind it is not an acceptable fix (ai does not build tanks) so I have not uploaded it here. Visit our forums for more info.

pgrens can only upgrade to panzerfausts...this is a realism issue sinse panzershrecks were only issued to specialized AT teams, which are still available to buy

...could you please give us some specific examples of when it is crashing, what your system specs are etc etc before complaining and demanding it 'be fixed' How are we supposed to know what the problem is if all you say is 'it keeps crashing' It could be almost anything that is causing it.
