Black Mesa : Opposing Force / Remake of HL:OP4

Hello followers! I have been working on a mod of mine for Black Mesa : Source. It's a direct remake of Half-Life : Opposing force using BMS assets.

I have recreated the first room from "Welcome To Black Mesa" chapter so far. I'm taking my time. I will be sure to post more pictures soon! Please give me feed back.

Note - The map is still under heavy WIP. It's no where near done and ready. Please give me you're mind on details and look of the map.

gm_Construct_Blackmesa - W.I.P Garry's Mod map

I decided to make a Black Mesa style Gm_Construct_13 with added features and a entire retexture of everything. The water will no longer be "water" but it will not be radioactive green waste. And the construct is no longer outside where it shine's all day long, instead it was thrown underground into the Black Mesa Research facility.

Now, my goals for this map are as follows below...

- A dark gloomy Black Mesa Construct now underground where all the cao's the resonance cascade caused unfolded.

- Leaking pipes leak corrosive chemicals from the radioactive waste below.

- You're now in a box! Underground with windows and door ways that led into this box you call your "home".

- Gm_Construct_13 is now a entirely a chemical waste repository with in the great Black Mesa. Maybe you'll find some hidden stuff within.

- My first pro map I hope to post on my workshop once it is finished and revised a little. The map will help me learn to add detail and help me with building detail. It's going to be hard for me since I do not have much experience with heavy detail to make it come to life.

Finally my Favorite game franchise in history along with a nice collection of content! I am so excited I cannot express it! I will be playing that soon enough. I also would like to say BMR is still under the work's and will take a while. It may also never see the day of light. But hey! Stuff take's time and maybe I would rather do a Halo game.

Black Mesa : Resonance is NOT DEAD. But is going through so much. We decided to change it in a BIG way. Black Mesa is cut, the main part of the game was cut. We decided to go for a darker version of The 7 Hour war.

Everything will still exist. Except everything Black Mesa related, such as security guard's and such. We still plan on doing a lot with the mod and adding everything we have in some way. Scientist will return but in a different way. Issac is still a veteran of the Black Mesa incident. Yet he will have the old story of what happened in Black Mesa.

Please we do not hate us. The mod itself is looking hard to create and going through a lot right now. Such as team leaving and people giving up. We still want to do something we did not do for BMR when we began. I want to take our time and storyboard and concept everything before we even step into the main game. I want to expand my mapping skill's and my ability's.

I came here as a child a person with nothing to show and nothing special. I want to change that and become a developer like you guy's. A official developer, not a dead beat one. I want to make sure we take our time so we can have a better chance with developer's and the community.

I know I will be hated for these action's if I kill BMR. It would take time to get people to forget my horrible action's and attempt's. Please give me a chance to revive myself.

I want to be the next big developer that may actually have a chance to make a kick butt mod!

I been busy lately with mod team affair's and making sure we want to end up using Black Mesa : Source texture's and map design. If we do, we will still go with everything we have planned. Just something's will still edited. Even BMS's model's. For example...

HECU soldier - We would edit and add new classes and replace weapons and such. We plan on editing the MP5 and adding a sight to it. But not a ACOG sight, more like a grenade launcher sight. And of course Issac , Hao's , Byron , Brian , Peter and other major Character's on our mod will have to be added along with heads. And I am sure CrazyB could do it. He is the best head modeler I have seen.

Security Guard - We want to make these guy's more of a threat and more of a police force in BMR. They would feature more wire's and gear on them and more bulk. They would also be able to take more shot's and well more damage over all. And if the player choose's to attack them they become a instant tough enemy. They will also have many voice type's and a possible female counter part along with a team like combat when in numbers. Same for all HECU unit's.

Scientist's - I would like to say we have them figured out. But I am unsure for certain. They will use weapon's but not very well and they all do not use weapon's. Some still are afraid, they can be useful if used right. Since our scientist are not even in the coding process we have time to plan them out. We do have a model I would like to say, is almost done. We want to make a realistic approach to the incident. By making them differ. Some use weapons some use blunt object's found. We have a wide variety for sure and hope to expand and make them even more useful, but also balanced.


Alien Grunt - If we do end up with Black Mesa : Source as our base. We will no doubt use the Alien grunt model they made. it's perfect and we would waste useful modelling on a model that would be hard to remake and redesign. But the hivehand is a different story which I will not go into. The alien grunt will be very strong. It will be a very hard to kill heavy hitter. Using tactic's and muscle to kill and over come all odds. They will send Vortigaunt's in to attack the player and "weaken" the player. They will most likely be strong enough to survive a entire MP5 clip into the chest, and at least 2 headshot's to kill. All the other weapon's are unknown at the moment.


Vortigaunt's / Alien Slave - These guy's are enemy's and ally's. Episode 1 feature's them as enemy's. In Episode 2 they are helpful ally's. They will be stronger then any of there counter part's. Featuring stronger hit's and able to withstand many shoot's to the central mass. They will be commanded by Alien Grunt's and act like worker's on Xen.


Zombie's - These zombie's are truely scary. We plan to add all the zombie type's in all Half Life games and some new type's. Such as the Prowler zombie and the Stalker zombie, along with a remastered Fast Zombie or Fasty! The HECU nicked named them Fasty's due to there speed. They appear as a torn up scientist with torn pant's at the knee's and wear no shoe's. They have there sleeve's torn up to the shoulder. They are pretty cool.

I noticed that for all the new race's of Scientist that are set to appear during Black Mesa : Resonance, we will need different voice's for all of them.

Considering some are German and some are Italian and more. So if anyone see's this and can do voice's you are welcome to contact me and speak with me about this.

We also need to give scientist more of a human approach. Instead of stupid people. Why not have them use pipes or small fire arms. Maybe they can also be intelligent enough to notice that the government is trying to kill them.

Below is a small list of what we may do with the scientist's. Only race's other news and info on them will be revealed when the Mod page is back up.

Asian

Japanese

Australian

Just a example and WIP list of possible Scientist Race's and soldier's. But most likely soldier's will be Caucasian and African american. Other's are possible but not as many as the Scientist.

Resonance of a Life.

I have been on the down low lately with the mod. I feel it is going to make it if we really try our hardest. I also know we will get some good game play progress with our Coder, he is really helpful and love's the hell out of source! I love it too it is an amazing piece of gaming history, right at our fingertips to explore and use.

With that said, we will try to implement new AI interactions and thinking. We will have this worked on until we have it perfect. Episode 1 will be a hassle but we will manage, Hopefully.

Weapons and alien weapons are also a issue. Seeing how many want old weapons or Half life 2 weapons to return. I am thinking that of course. And some, maybe more want New and improved weapons on the virtual battlefield. We will experiment with many thing's along with other aspects of the mod.

I just hope we nail the mod and have a home run with the content we deliver. To whom ever is reading, know I and the rest of the team are trying our hardest to do what we can to make this mod as good as we can. It is not easy. And to who is a developer reading this, thank you so much for your help. Even those who left us and have in other words, left on bad terms. I don't care they were damn good people.

I have joined two new groups! I made a new one called "Adventure Time - Community group" and "Adventure Time - The Great Mushroom War Episode Project". I am designing a lot of character drawings for the Project. We hope to make a entire Episode series about the war and theory's will be made to support the story.
