GOOD NEWS! Using an app called WinMerge (which allows me to compare folders) I believe I have isolated the crash to desktop to some actor file modifications I made. I should be able to release a stable v0.89 soon.

So I did some testing and I believe v0.84 of Black Bag to be stable (or, at the very least, free from the crash to desktop bug that I haven't been able to debug yet).

I think I may have isolated the crash-inducing bug in Black Bag. I'll keep testing to be sure, but if it turns out to be so, then that means progress will resume.

In the meantime, I really need to figure out what the last stable version of the mod was, so that you know.

[UPDATE: Nope, this wasn't the problem.] Possibly Good News! I may have isolated the crash-inducing bug to the terrorist kit files. I ran a crash-prone tango hunt 4 consecutive times without it taking a dump. I'll keep testing to be sure. If that proves to be the case, then I may be able to release a version without the offending tango kit files until I nail down which tango kit files contain the bug.

Have you played Rogue Spear before? That's how it was. Different from Rainbow Six 1. But I'll take a look at that if I can ever figure out the crash-inducing bug on the more recent versions.

I'll try to get back to work on this soon. The setbacks have been a real gut punch. But I think I have an idea for isolating what is causing the crashes on the Korean maps.

I'm going to release a v0.89 which is not entirely stable because I found that v0.87 also has some instability. Users will just have to understand that the game will crash sometimes, especially on the Korean maps.

My plan is to rebuild the mod using the assets created. This will take some time, possibly finished by Spring of next year.

Testing was going great (albeit, slowly but surely) until I got to the Korean maps in Tango Hunt. Crash to desktop is still there. I am going to roll testing back to v0.87, which I believe is stable (but I'll test it to make sure), and then work on the mod from there, if it is.

This version has some reliable crash to desktop bugs on some of the Korean maps. Recommend v0.87 as the most recent stable build.

I'm shooting for a stable update release by August 20th, if not one that smooths out some of the inconsistencies in weapon accuracy, handling and recoil modeling.

I'm going to try to squeeze the F.R. Ordnance Internation Ltd./Imperial Defence Services Ltd. MC51 (also known as the HK51), a.k.a., the "fully automatic flashbang dispenser", into the mod. It won't have a belt, as in this video, but it will have a massive muzzle blast. It was used experimentally by the Special Air Service, so RAINBOW would probably have access to it.

Temporary fix is in place. Playtesting all of the maps in Tango Hunt to make sure none of them crash to desktop on initial contact with the enemy. About halfway through.

I've rounded down the cause of the crash to desktop to about 30 terrorist kit files but I wasn't able to see any syntax errors or bugs. I will introduce each file one by one until I isolate the single file causing the bug, then I will pull out a magnifying glass and take a closer look. If I can't figure out the cause, I'll just leave that updated kit out of the newest version.

I have isolated the reliable cause of the crash to desktop on some of the Korean maps to changes I made in one of the 800+ terrorist kit files. This is progress, but that's a lot of files to go through, so it will take me a bit. As soon as it is fixed, I will release a stable update.

I rolled back to v0.87 and am now confident that whatever is causing the crashes to desktop on the Korean maps was introduced in v0.88. That gives me something to go on.

Still trying to hunt down the source of the crashes to desktop on some of the Korean maps. I verified that the crashes don't happen so reliably with Black Bag deactivated. The loggme.log file isn't giving me much to go on, so I'm trying to work backwards on file alterations I have made over the past couple of months.

There is a crash to desktop bug happening reliably on some of the Korean maps that weren't crashing so reliably before. I suspect the cause is somewhere in the Korean tango kit files, so I have to hunt it down.

Fixed a couple of crash-to-desktops caused by missing terrorist weapon files misreferenced as tw_[weapon name]-single.wpn instead of tw_[weapon name]-semi.wpn

If you encounter similar errors in the loggme.log file the fix is to copy the -semi.wpn file into the same folder and name it -single.wpn instead. The game will then be able to find the functionally identical file referenced in the loggme.log

If I encounter any others I will fix them for the next update.

Still working on the spreadsheet. Once all of the stats are plugged in, it should be easy to see inconsistencies at a glance.

Uploaded the first version of the weapon stat spreadsheet to the Files section.

Entering weapon stats in a spreadsheet is making it a lot easier to see stats that just don't make sense. The end result should be an even more realistic weapon mod.

Working on a spreadsheet with graphs to visually double-check the weapon accuracy, handling & recoil modeling makes sense in light of similar weapons. Will tweak weapon stats if I find anything inexplicably anomalous and will include the spreadsheet in Black Bag mod's root folder so that players can see how the guns compare. Will see if I can come up with an Energy Delivered Per Second stat similar to Damage Per Second in other games.

Trimmed down weapon reloading sounds (except for the Bizon, which is going to need some work) to match the 2-3 second default reloading time in the game.

Also added the H&K G36 and G36C variants to accompany the G36K. It is believed that the G36 is less accurate than the G36K because of an overly long barrel, but that barrel also gets better performance from the 5.56mm round. Also swapped out the models and textures with those from NATO3 and Sputnik Satellite. Wanted to use Nishi's model for the G36K, but there seemed to be texture naming conflicts, so I had to go with Sputnik's.

Found a better source for the MP5 and MP5K gunshot sounds. The old ones bothered me because they sounded like a minigun spinning down at the end.

Drastically improved the AKS-74U shooting sounds, in my opinion. The sounds I had were from an excellent real source, but they wound up sounding more like an M60 machinegun. I wound up using a mediocre real source, because it just sounded better.

Black Bag v0.88 has been released. [UPDATE: Unfortunately, v0.88 is unstable. It introduced a bug that is causing some of the Korean missions to crash to desktop and the loggme.log file isn't recording what the problem is.]

v0.88 (releasing now) adds the ability for tangos to fire their weapons in some of the lower fire mode selections, though they still can't switch between fire modes. Tango weapon inaccuracy has also been increased by 100%, which should result in some less robotic firefights. This also fixes some bugs that could result in crashes to desktop and some erroneous fire mode selection options. Work has also begun on improving the gun fighting combat module, a file that determines how various calibers affect various parts of the body and the character or NPC as a whole.

Fixed the PPSh-41, which didn't have a semi-automatic mode for some unknown reason. Also fixed the RPD, which had a semi-auto mode for some unknown reason. Added the 3-round burst to the Steyr AUG, because that is configurable by the user in real-life. Removed the 3-round burst mode for the H&K G36K, which it isn't supposed to have.
