Interesting, the FMV screens all should still work. It may be AvPx. You may want to try it with Classic 2000 if you can because in all of our runs (and you can see in my demo video), the FMVs play in both maps. Either that or try saving the map as Genshd1.RIF instead of Derelict.RIF and then loading up Colony in the single-player mode.

There is an upper limit to level size, it's probably around 100,000 polygons. The entire marine campaign may possibly fit into one map, but for sure it couldn't handle the whole marine campaign plus all the bonus missions. It helps that the game only loads a specific number of modules at a time so it never fully renders an entire map.

Nice to imagine the whole marine campaign in one level! However we probably won't do it. It took way more work than it seems to get even two maps together seamlessly.

Hey, I know it's been years but I still mod for this game and just wanted to update you to let you know that I've made a version 2 of this mod which is much more extensive and does add a shotgun pickup model to the maps. So if you do have the original game and can get the MelPyth mod to work, you can play the game with a shotgun properly. Check the mod page if you're curious. Thanks.

No. For one, there is no console command to spawn sentry turrets. For another, sentries do not spawn in multiplayer game modes at all in AvP Classic. They only appear in single-player.

The mod only recognizes the Steam release of AvP Classic, not the GOG one or disc versions (Gold Edition or the 1999 PC release).

Good job, Jackathan. Played through it without any issues whatsoever. Not sure how much you had to clean up but it looked like what a demo from '97 would look like (sans the beta headcrabs and handgun) and played like the original Half-Life. Got a scientist to heal me and got the security guards to follow and shoot as normal. Didn't even fall down any of the ceiling tiles. I will make two notes though. The doors everywhere were kind of annoying since they refused to stay open; if they're like that in the original then I guess there's nothing that can be done about that. The second thing to note was that it was hard to catch back on to the ladder when at the top of the maintenance shaft; I fell off and took about 60 points of damage because Half-Life ladders can sometimes be awful. Maybe there's a way to make the player catch on to it a bit better? Oh yeah, also shooting the barnacle frees the scientist, but I assume that's kind of just a funny easter egg or a regular HL mechanic or something.

There is no reason for such a massive undertaking with such a minute chance of it seeing the light of Steam, considering Valve's track record of what other mods they've greenlit. Considering how much work it sounds like you have left to do, I'm convinced that you would be wiser to wait for Valve to release Source 2 and port the games to that, rather than the buggy mess of the fifteen-year old and already completely outdated Source 1. I'm sorry, but there really is no point aside from it being a "what if." Those games never needed Source in the first place, they're plenty fine already and a physics engine isn't what those games were missing. Be realistic, Valve would never entrust a fan project to replace something they officially released, even if it's a hundred times better than theirs.

Well I was using the Brutal Doom mod too, and the weapon behind the megasphere was a railgun for me so it wasn't really helpful for that part. Not sure if in vanilla it's supposed to be a BFG? If so, then eh. Still don't take back what I said about archviles, though.

Map 5: Putting an incredibly dickish archvile spawn in a room after a large mob and during a fresh large mob is just about the laziest design decision and quickest way to **** off the average player. The way the archvile is used here is a lazy and superficial way to fluff up mob numbers and deal large damage to an unsuspecting player. They should be used sparsely and only in places tailor-made for them. Throwing one into a mob, especially next to two revenants that spawn in simultaneously is not only cheap, but makes it feel like this megawad isn't even intended for the average player. I am loathe to continue on because your map put a very bad taste in my mouth.

Sorry, I just noticed this comment. Is there a crash log? My instinct is that someone's using regular AvP '99 instead of Gold Edition, which would mean the other player doesn't have the skeeter launcher and therefore is getting an error that causes the game to crash. I know you're probably wanting to be deliberately vague or secretive about a release date, but I don't see a project as ambitious as this coming out before Q4 2018 at the earliest. Do you have a timeframe to release in 2018 at all or do you know/can you tell me if is this planned for 2019 or later?
