Born in 1973, Gaming since 1981. Started my love affair with PC's back in 1983 when my Mom bought me a Tandy Color Computer II. With 4 colors on screen, a tape cassette drive and a 1200 page manual I was in love. After reading the manual 5 or 6 times & learning BASIC and some Assembly language I then began dabbling in modding PC games. My first real success came when I modded Sports Car GT with the "Spirit of '76" mod in which Image Space Inc. offered me a job. Unfortunately, due to personal reasons my dream of being a real game designer never got to be, but I gave them the assets I created and soon GT Legends was on the shelves. Over the years I've modded many games, usually for the purpose of making a game somewhat more realistic, hence my many GunMod's or Gunslinger's free Realism mods for games such as Jane's combat sims, Sims 2, Ghost Recon, Operation Flashpoint, etc. Currently looking for a dedicated modding team. Can do 3D, 2D, scripting, layout, design and more.

Where has time gone?

I3lackI3eard Blog

Can't believe it will be 10 years soon since I joined this site.
A lot has changed in my life, and lot has stayed the same.
But we are here for gaming and modding said games, not some random person's life story.

So I've been getting back into modding, slowly and so much as changed.
What used to take a person months, years to do with hex editing and faith is now able to be done with point-and-click interfaces.

Not sure if an old modder dinosaur like myself is still useful in today's world, but yet I remain.

Anyway, if any teams out there need a modder, especially in military oriented strategy games, combat simulations or racing sims, give me a holler.

I can't work the endless hours for free like I used to as I have a family to support, but I'll give what I can.

Vector Thrust looking good so far.

Just friended the developer of Vector Thrust. A modern-jet combat flight simulator that promises to be very friendly to modders. After some back and forth with the developer and the community I honestly feel this project will be something I will spend a lot of time modding for.

Check it out, download the alpha and join the community.

Back in the Saddle Again

Or so the song goes...
My kids are now 4.8 and 12 so I'm just now starting to get some free time again to mod.
As I state in my summary profile I am looking for a dedicated modding team to join.
My only rules are:

  • 1) Has to be a game I would actually play. I'm not doing a mod for Barbie Horse Party... again ;)
  • 2) Has to make sense. Can't put tons of work into something I don't believe in.
  • 3) Mod has to be free, or cheap (in price) if the mod is REALLY good. I do this because I enjoy it, not to make money. Money is good, but only if you feel good about what you have accomplished.
  • 4) If there is something I do not know (C++, other various programming languages) that I need to know, I am willing to learn
  • 5) Must have blessings of game publishers. No sense doing all that work only to get a "Cease and Desist" letter 2 days after release.
  • 6) Rest of team must be dedicated. I will do my work, and happily, but I wont tolerate being the grunt and doing someone's job because they got slack.
  • 7) Would prefer a leadership role/management role in the mod. I don't mind being in the trenches, but I have been in them before and feel I could impart some wisdom on folks just starting out. It's not a requirement, just a request.
  • 8) Mod producer should have good leadership and management skills. I do not want to work for someone who doesn't trust his team, at the same time I don't want to work for someone who takes the word about the ballistics of a .233 round from a person who has never fired a gun in their life.
  • 9) I prefer doing things that make a game more realistic over eye candy. Eye candy is nice, but there is a reason I don't like the Halo series. The mod/game has to offer a plausible scenario and not some run-of-the-mill aliens take over the world same-same.
  • 10) Want to know what is expected of me. A little freedom is nice, but having a known quantity list of what needs to be done and when is very helpful in the creation process.
