Yeah I think it's Majora who causes the crash. Playing with Majora should fix the problem :)

You need to download Hyrule: Total War and install that first. Then download the Link and Majora Addon and put it in the Hyrule: Total War install directory.

Unfortunately as soon as the armies clashed and the battle went on for about a minute I experienced a crash.

Hey guys just working on some nooks and crannies on getting link into custom battle! :D. So far so good tho the placeholder logo is of peasants from the base game. Still trying to find out how to replace it with the original :). (Tho I think I know what to do).

Also gonna see if I can get Majora's Faction in custom as well.

Note this may (Probably will) make your game unstable so when I do release this little addon. I'll release backups for it with the originals.

This contains the changed files to add Link into Custom Battles for Hyrule (backup of original included). I don't know how to get him in the Heroes only bit. But here you go. (Note I changed the Link_Lone to have Hyrulian Knights, No Midna secondary officer).

I've just gone through some of the files for the mod and enabled Link in custom battle. I'll upload the replacement files soon. Along with the backup files of course. :)

Did you install BF2 update from 1.41 to 1.5 on the same computer? and not on another computer and just transferred it over via external?

I would say this was good but you can't buy **** in multiplayer you really need to fix that

What OS do you have?

You should probably make sure some of the females officers don't have "male courting sentences"
either way good mod :)
