Regarding the Combat Animation mod it does look like it should work with this. Just follow the instructions in the original post of that thread where it details the installation instructions.

To revert back to the old icons replace the parties.txt file in the submod with the original parties.txt file from the base mod.

No you shouldn’t be getting that error on either the full version or the patch. I’ve started several new games now and I can’t seem to replicate this error your having, Valysar works as intended and doesn’t disappear after I visit it. Perhaps try starting a new game to see if that makes any difference? Other than that I’m not sure what else could cause that town to go missing.

I agree it’s not fun at all but if lowering their athletics skill didn’t work then it’s most likely coded in to the base mod meaning it’s unable to be changed.

Yes, it's normal for them to move that fast. It's set like that in the base mod.
The new weapons are:
1 morningstar
1 spear
1 halberd
1 battle-axe
6 swords
You'd just get the regular Riverlander troop gear.

You've made some very interesting companion suggestions, unfortunately the only way to add more companions in the game would be through the module files which are not available.
Perhaps you could try posting these suggestions in the AWOIAF Discord server.
Looks like you've done a nice couple of changes there my friend. Another user here by the name Paceinator here has also reached out to me and is also working on retexturing several items, once he has completed it I would be glad to include the changes you guys have made in a future version of the submod.

Now regarding this issue your having maybe try replacing the menus.txt file with the original one? If that doesn't work perhaps you could ask on the Warbender TW forums to see if someone else knows of a fix.
Your most probably right about the spawn point, KL got a new scene in the last update and I think they may have overlooked the spawn point in the throne room. The GC lords having incorrect banners is also an issue with the base game, best for you to report these on the AWOIAF forums or discord server.

Extract the contents of the submod into your AWOIAF mod folder, it will ask you if you want to overwrite the files, select yes and your good to go.
