Thanks for the compliment, do stay tuned, Beta coming up soon.
Hi, the GUI was actually designed and put together in Photoshop first, then implemented in Unity.
Thanks for keeping an eye on our game, I do look forward to meeting you this Friday! :P
Sorry for the late response. As for your question, we'll wipe out all Closed Beta data when OBT comes out early next year. But we won't do any wipe after the game is officially released.
haha, still have some time!!:P
For Closed Beta Test!
Thanks! We've been working hard to get the CBT ready and now we're pretty close to it. Be sure to keep an eye on our website, we'll be rolling out updates shortly.
Hey, thanks for the compliment, you can see more background of the game under World section on our website. Link here: Cityofsteam.com
Thanks for supporting City of Steam, looking forward to meeting you in November's CBT!
Sweet, thanks for the support. We've wrapped up Alpha Collaborator Packs several days ago, Beta Packs will be coming out late October. But you could always help the development of this game through Paypal donations, etc. We also have a player-driven community, feel free to drop by on and join any discussions there.
No need to worry about that, collision should be fairly realistic (as much as games go). You can get close enough to walls without melting into them, and step over debris and other small objects without them stopping you as a wall would. Of course, some of this is still up for Beta testing, so if any odd issues pop up, we'll be sure to work on fixing them before release. :) Feel free to drop me a line if you have any further questions!
Oops, sorry dude, I was a member of this group, and when I posted the dev journal, I guess something unexpected happened!
Speaking of a standalone client,we will be considering a higher-rez client download in the future but that would require working out proper patching etc. We like where we are at now, update anything and don't need to push it, the player signs in and gets the newest assets.
We actually had considered different UIs for the Health/Steam displays, but they either looked out of place, weren't visible enough during crucial combat situations, or simply weren't that intuitive, so we ended up with these, for now, for familiarity's sake, as most gamers can recognize what those are for without needing to be told. Changes to this in the future? Always a possibility, but that kind of polish would be something we'd put more focus on once we're nearer to full release (we're still in pre-Beta now); if you have suggestions, though, we're always open to ideas. :P
Agreed...XD

Thanks! Actually we know that kind of thins is not good for our health, but, sometimes we need it to be level-headed.
Thanks for the compliment. Now the second alpha event is pretty close (July 27th), more content and new features will be accessible then. Looking forward to meeting you again!!

Hey, the sure thing is there will be a wider range to choose from soon!
The server will be up at 7pm PDT, July 20th.
Cool, see you guys on 20th and be ready to start exploring a whole new Nexus.
City of Steam will scale to the user's hardware and web browser settings. (This tweaking and fine tuning of this will not happen until the Beta test in Fall 2012) Currently, a gaming computer that is around three to five years old will run the game just fine. Older, non-gaming computers and/or old laptops will need to reduce the graphic quality settings to achieve an acceptable frame rate.
Hey, racial beverages have been designed, but they haven't been implemented.
Our level designer, Greg (from the video), actually helped design a lot of the tools to make the levels, and makes it look easy in the video. In order to have a working too for the community to use, it would take a lot of time and effort. Many have expressed interest in this though, so it's certainly something we'd like to consider eventually...just sadly not in the cards for the near future.
