Antumbra

Game review

Being a point and click game, it gives what you'd really want from something like this. Disturbing creatures, unnerving sounds and moments, jumpy moments, and an odd world to explore in, all wrapped up in a point and click universe. There's not a whole lot to this game, but what there is, is what I love about horror games. For a small project, it does its job well. A 10 from me, overall, since there was nothing I could find that really retracted from the game personally.

Game review

I can't even put into words how much I love this series. I mean, really. It's incredible to me. It was interesting, and unique to me. Everything about it was just really enjoyable.

Five Nights at Freddy's

Game review

A unique game.
The game's mechanics are simple, and the story is pretty much nonexistent, but despite that, this game pulls off it's main goal really well:
It scares the sh*t out of you.
Not only that, but it makes you feel tense, paranoid, and on edge.
While the game itself is rather simple overall, the impact is strong, and honestly, when it comes down to it, I feel like we need a good game like this every now and then.
Not a simple jumpscare game, but one that really puts you on edge.
And this is one of those games.
It's well worth your time.

Kaisa

Game review

I figured I'd stop by and take a look at this game.
Disclaimer; this isn't my kind of game really at all, but it did look a bit interesting.
I'll be doing a different style of reviewing this time, and probably stick to it for other reviews too.
NOTE: I only am able to review the demo, as I can't buy games currently. No cash.~

Art: For a game of this kind, it's relatively nice. Not something that made me cringe, but not something that makes me want to stare at it all day and all night. Though, most games aren't like that.
7/10, it's pretty good for this kind of game.

Characters: They're alright, at times a bit bland. Not the worst I've seen in gaming by far, but definitely not the best. The main character looks pretty cool too, which factors into the art part, but in terms of how they act and what's said in the demo, it's.. decent. But could definitely be better.
6/10. Could use quite a bit of work to be wonderful but as is.. It's alright.

Story: I'll be honest and say that I found the story to be a bit boring, right from the start. There was nothing that REALLY caught my attention immediately, and while I stuck through anyways, as I don't expect ANY game to start off fantastically, the dullness I felt remained throughout the demo gameplay. I can't really recommend anything you could do for this because I go back and revise my games all the time, and always find something to nitpick.
3/10. Too dull for my tastes and could use a lot of work to make it more interesting, though this could just be a problem due to the type of game it is.

Controls: Pretty standard. Nothing to complain about or compliment in this area.
N/A.

Sound: Definitely the best part of the entire game. Title music and others were wonderful.
8/10, very good.

Overall score is 5/10. With a lot of work this game could be GREAT, but this demo makes it average, but not terrible.
Still, fun to play and I'll be looking out for any other releases of yours.

Ren'py

Engine review

This engine is actually very easy to use and as long as you have the skill to make the art, music, and story (Or at least have a team of people willing to help), you can make a Visual Novel VERY easily and very nicely with this engine.
It's free, and not too hard to understand. It even has it's own tutorial game that goes rather in-depth with it's controls and scripting.

Frankly, if you're into Visual Novels and you want to make one of your own, this is an Engine I highly recommend. All you need is your own art, music, and story, and with help from the tutorial (or prior coding knowledge) you're pretty much set.

Very few things I found a little annoying but other than those this engine is pretty much wonderful in most ways.
Give it a download and a try if you want to make a VN.
It's worth the few seconds it takes to download.

Higurashi When They Cry

Game review

I love this.
I love everything about Higurashi.
I love the VN, I love the Anime, and I love the Manga.
This is one of the few VNs I actually enjoyed.
The whole story behind it truly kept me thinking.
The characters were great, and the atmosphere was intense.
The story was very well done, and ever since I discovered Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni, I've been hooked.

Well worth money, and well worth the time.
If you're a fan of horror this is something you truly can't miss out on.

Slender Anime Contamination

Game review

The game had some genuinely scary moments.
The character that stalks you is very creepy and I've never seen it before so it's original, and the sudden switch halfway through the game with all the images was very unnerving.
The lighting could be fixed, and the mouse should be locked and disappear. The game should also have an exit button (Such as escape) because without it you have to open task manager or x out of it if it's windowed.
Some placement of walls and such are a little wonky, and you can't run very well, plus it's hard to tell what you need to do or what you need to find for most of the gameplay.
It should be more up front about it, as I had no idea at first where to go or what to do.
Other than these complications - that while minor, drastically brought down the fun for me and my friend - The game has a very creepy feel to it, especially with no music for the first half, building tension.
And the jumpscares, while Minor, were scary. Not enough to make you cry, but enough to shock you and make you jump a bit.
Needs work, overall, but it may be a promising game with some changes.

Inverto

Game review

I remember giving this game a go some time ago, and I've tried it recently as well.
It has fluid and smooth movement, and is somewhat complex to beat. I know it took me a bit of time to figure out some areas.
The game also has very nice graphics, and does not lag too much on good quality even on lower end PCs.
The concept of the game is actually very nice, and the gameplay is done well.
Overall the game is a 9/10. Nearly nothing is wrong with this game, though sometimes I had problems in levels.
That's simply my own intelligence, I suppose.
Test the demo, guys, and if you like it, then get the full game.
Seriously.
Give this game your money, it's well worth it. And it's $4, you can't go wrong.

Haunted Memories

Game review

This review is solely based off of the first episode.
I'll be frank and say I was highly disappointed.
I went into this game expecting a fun, scary experience -
It wasn't fun, or scary.
The slender figure I only saw 2 times, the 2nd of which I ran at him, because I was so bored from the gameplay.
The figure was not scary, and in several areas I actually got stuck and had to start all the way over.
The only notable feature that I can say is that the graphics are pretty nice.
Not the best graphics I've ever seen ever, but pretty good.
Other than that, it's just Slender.
If other episodes are different then good, but frankly I don't want to give my money to this series if they're all like this - It's boring and to be quite honest, unoriginal.
Kudos for graphics, that's it.
Of course, I only speak of episode 1.
If I see gameplay of later episodes and they happen to be actually decent I may consider buying them, but for now this game gets a 3/10 because it has good graphics and I like the character movement and camera movement, but other than that it's rather poor.
That's just me, though.

Cube World

Game review

This game is rather fantastic.
At first it's difficult but as you familiarize yourself with the controls, it becomes much easier and funner.
Having major capabilities in terms of customization is a very good aspect of the game, and exploration is very addicting, which is good considering it's a big part of the game.
The character is fluid and fast, and the animation is nice for MOST parts of gameplay.
The monsters are quite a challenge, and the classes all vary with different strengths and weaknesses.
The pets are helpful in combat the stronger they get, as they should be.
Gliding in the air is so much fun and a very nice touch to the game as well.
The only major problem I have with this game is this;
You need a good computer to run it remotely decently, let alone at all.
However, that's expected as it's merely in Alpha and hasn't received a new update quite yet.
I recommend the game highly, but be wary of the requirements.
Be sure your Computer can handle it and test the demo screen first before giving this game your purchase, unless you feel like giving your money regardless, as I did at first.
