That’s a really good question, and yeah, dinosaurs are very limited in terms of attack, cause unlike most characters in an ARPG, dinosaurs don’t and can’t use projectiles, without having them look too out of place, so we only rely on melee.
To help give a general overview, we separated the main attacks for each dinosaurs into 5: light, critical, heavy, stun, and special attack. Jump can also be used for areal offense but it does not do much damage, the purpose of jump attack is to simply give a brief stagger to multiple foes so you could escape or jump into a group of enemies.
Because of this, we emphasize more on exploration, strategy, and survival. Exploration is key in this game because it would help you know just what you’ll be facing, where the resources are located, and most importantly which dinosaur is best suited for the job. Failing to understand an environment (level) would result in the dinosaur dying or getting killed.
A good but very broad example of this is when, let’s say we choose the desert environment, using a T-rex in this environment is not necessarily the best way to go, sure it’s very powerful in terms of attacks, and has a good amount of health, but it’s also relatively slow, and would need to eat regularly, so having this dinosaur being played where prey are relatively fast, is not the best way to go and it’ll most likely die.
