Thanks for pointing this out. I think that Desura's site is messing up. I will contact admins and let them know.
There's currently no clickable button on the status bar, but if you go to the inventory screen, you can switch by clicking on another character there. Page-Up and Page-Down are the keyboard shortcuts.
I'm glad you like the game. :)
Just to let you know. I have pretty much finalized the 1.1 update. I'll be uploading it in a day or two.
I will do so. And hopefully it won't take too long to fix.
I was able to find someone to test with OSX 10.8 and they duplicated the problem. I'm in the process of fixing this issue, which seems to be specific to 10.8.
I will ask my Mac tester to try the demo from my site and see what they find. Thanks for pointing this out to me. I'll let you know when the problem is solved.
The update is almost done and has more than just a couple minor fixes. Expect to see it soon.
Great! I'm glad you're enjoying the game.
There will be a patch to fix the mouse / door issue. The update will add some new things to the game as well (hot seat / party-based game play will be the biggest addition). I should be sending the version to testers soon and once it is cleared, I will post it here.
I'm glad that fixed things for you. I hope you're enjoying the game!
Did you recently install a file compression program such as 7-Zip or WinRAR? If so, make sure that program is not associated with JAR files.
That's strange. Nothing has been changed on the game. I will check it out. Is this for Windows?
Do you have Java 6 or 7 installed?
Thanks for the suggestion. Glad you seem to be enjoying it, despite the challenge. :)
I've found that it's best to try moving slowly so you can pick off one enemy at a time. When they get a chance to gang up on you, it can be very difficult to escape. "Rest" whenever you get the chance.
Really? Desura says that the game is not ready? That is strange. I will test it some to see if I can get it to happen here.
Don't worry about your save game file. It only disappears if you start a new game without loading or if you load the game. Then when you exit you can save again.
I'm glad Ringman thought of that and that it fixed the problem. I will get that changed for the next update so you can choose to play with only the mouse. Sorry about that!
Glad you're enjoying it (despite that issue)!
Thanks for pointing that out. I'll have to change that for the next update.
I see that the path Windows path didn't post correctly. It's
#APPDATA#\Fascimania\Kilgazar
Replace the #'s with %'s
Save the game when you exit and please email me your autosave.gamestate file.
On Windows, that path is:
P;PDATA%\Fascimania\Kilgazar
(you can enter that in Start->Run)
For Linux it's: ~/Fascimania/Kilgazar
Please email that file to support@fascimania.com so I can see what's going on and get it fixed for you.
Thanks! Hope you enjoy!
By the way, there's no time frame set on adding multiplayer yet, but it is what I'm working on now (as free time allows).
If you have any other questions about modifying the art files, feel free to message me.
When you beat the game, you create a new character. It can use the same portrait as before though.
Hotseat and LAN multiplayer is planned and once it is done, everyone who has the game will be able to get the update. Not sure whether internet play will be added.
Yes, actually it IS possible to tinker with the art icons. JAR files are basically just ZIP files and the game checks for a file outside of the JAR before using the file inside the JAR. So to change the hero and monsters you'd need to extract "res/drawable/actors.png" and edit it. Be sure that the folder structure and file names are the same (using the folder with Kilgazar.jar as the parent folder).
Glad to hear that! Thanks for grabbing the game and for reporting the error.
I hope you enjoy playing!
My apologies for the trouble you're having.
It appears that the Desura client just checks that *some* version of Java is installed and not specifically Java 7, which Kilgazar needs and you probably have Java 6 installed.
I am working to get this issue resolved ASAP and the game will have its own private copy of Java 7 so you won't have to worry about installing anything extra.
Right now you can either install Java 7 yourself (likely a good idea because of the updates and security fixes it has) and try the game again, OR wait awhile for me to get a fixed copy to Desura and for them to approve the fix.
Try downloading the standalone setup exe through your browser. I am able to click it here and start downloading it.
What OS are you running? Are you using the standalone installer or installing from the Desura client?
Thanks, Ian. Glad to hear that it runs well for you.
Give it 30 minutes. I wanted to be sure I was available in case there were any hiccups at launch. Sorry for the wait.
Thanks!
I kept the mouse cursor off screen while recording but yes, it can be played using the mouse, keyboard, or a combination of the two.
Thanks for the suggestion, but it's meant to look sort of like a board game and the characters are like game pieces rather than sprites.
