Description

I don't even accurately remember exactly when or how I first got to play it, but Gunstar Heroes has a special place in my heart.
Online reviews today will tell you about it being an amazing gun & run side scroller. But what I remember the most about it, aside the remarkably good graphics (a mere screenshot won't make justice to a fluent, fast paced game, but this one also looks GOOD) is the most important factor in ANY game: Rewarding gameplay.
It's just so satisfying to shoot your way through enemies on this game.
Boss fights are awesome too, and larger enemies are composed of multiple, carefully placed smaller sprites, giving them a really badass look.
The weapon upgrades system is very interesting too. You can combine any two weapon upgrades simultaneously, with different effects for each different combination.

Gunstar Heroes was originally released for Sega Genesis on late 1993 according to Wikipedia, and since we all know getting an actual, legit cartridge nowadays isn't exactly easy (particularly if you live in absurd-import-restrictions-land, like me >:I), Gaben delivers again: Store.steampowered.com
Also on GamersGate if you want even less DRM:

(I know playing on an emulator is not ideal, but it's something)
