Quite bold. Which reminds me: Many of the best top-down shooters with a lot of on-screen action help the player identify important details by having plain backgrounds, a unique shape for their avatar, and the stuff that'll kill you is bold and brightly colored. Despite the heavy depth of field blur, I feel the play area and the background blend too much and can be difficult to distinguish at a glance.
