NADC (Not Another Doom Clone) is a fully open-source game engine, created and improved incrementally' NADC was designed from the start to be fully moddable, and is compatible with most versions of Windows, Mac OS X, and almost every Linux or Linux-like system, and possibly portable to homebrew, giving maximum audience for your mods' With full hardware acceleration for graphics and audio supported, an immensely scalable design (will run on an old Pentium 2 with no hardware acceleration or a quad-core AMD64 with an nVidia 8800GTS) and full source code under the GPL, this engine is designed for mods' No expensive software is needed to develop a mod for it; everything used to make it is free'

Final release

News 1 comment

Preparing one last release before NADC goes on hiatus:

Confirmed Features:
XML-based maps
Linux port
Skybox
Multiple maps
Triggers

Possible Features:
Nintendo DS port
NPCs
Online mode
Water
File-based textures/materials

I will post the tools first, along with several sample maps while the engine is finished. NADC 0.9 will be the last for a while. My work on Blue Shift 2 has been suffering horribly, and I am giving that priority.

Xuperuber(robustic) and kfprimm will maintain it and extend it in the meantime. I will personally step away from this for at least a month, possibly an entire year.

Again, NADC has downloads at:
Sourceforge.net
Indiedb.com

It would be nice to see some images of what is possible with this engine, but other then that, excellent work!

You say it works on linux. Does that mean it may be possible to use it to make games for the PS3? (Just so you know it is possible to install a linux operating system on the PS3, but I haven't tried yet so I don't know to what extent)

The download isn't here. The last source release was at

Files.gamefront.com

and the last binary release was removed by the host. You'll have to compile it yourself.

I'm working on a small sample game, and I'll take some screenshots tomorrow.

Linux works in theory, just compile the code. Some small fixes might be needed. And running it on a PS3 might not work. I don't have one, but I doubt it has SDL. Otherwise, it'll work.
