Machinations is a real-time strategy game where you manage and direct swarms of ships to take over and destroy your enemies. Plan your attacks carefully to gain the the most tactically advantageous Nodes (space-stations which build and house your fleet). Upgrade your Nodes with defensive lasers or build shipyards to augment your fleet. Capture super-weapons to cut swathes through your enemies' fleet. Play against up to three AI players in frantic, randomised melees matches. Or complete the Campaign mode to help Admiral Sudo (your robotic commander) reclaim his lost empire.

It seems that when a station has less than 10 ships, electric arcs start to appear over the station which get more intense as the number of ships decrease further.

There do appear to be a few exceptions to this rule, however :

  • When a base is taken over, it shows no electric arcs (until attacked by a ship)
  • If ships are ordered to leave a station (or an upgrade is built) and this causes the ship count to drop below 10, no electric arcs are shown (until attacked by a ship)

For example, this allows situations where a station could have only one ship in it, yet have no electric arcs displayed on it.This could be considered misleading in some cases, but could also be intentional to protect the strategy of opponents ordering large quantities of units out of a station.
I could argue either way on both bullet points... what are other peoples' thoughts?
