As the chief of this coastal village, it's your job to recruit and send people on a dangerous quest to the water of Greenland, known as codfishing. Manage your resources, build various types of houses and other infrastructures, talk to the population and try to keep your reputation high while you wait and hope that those who you send away come back alive.

Showcase of the different terrain tiles and how they're going to be used in game.

In today's devlog I'm going to show you some of the terrain tiles that will be used in the game Codville, in this article you'll be able to know more about what these tiles will be used for and what they'll look like.

In Codville the tiles are divided into two big groups, the buildable ones and the unbuildable ones. On the first one, just as the name conveys, you'll be able to construct buildings; on the second one, you won't.

Alongside this group, there are two more divisions that we're making with tiles, which is if they're land or water tiles, this will affect the type of building you'll be able to construct on each tile.

These are our "standard" land tiles, the plains/grassland terrain, all of these are buildable tiles and they serve as a base for all the other land tiles.

Continuing on our land tiles, these are the forest terrain ones. The ones you can see that have a higher tree density will be unbuildable, the other ones will be buildable. We're thinking of implementing a way to "clear up" the trees of the more high-density ones so you can make them buildable in the future.

Next up are some unbuildable land tiles, the mountain terrain ones. These will have no way to "clear up".

These are some extra land tiles that we might use or not for decorative proposes but will act just like the first tiles shown, these will be the sand terrain ones. We're still thinking if we're actually going to use these in the finished game or not.

To finish the land tiles, these are the beach terrain only that will appear on the edge to mark the transition from land to water and will be buildable.

Now the water tiles, they are divided into two groups, the lighter ones will appear closer to the coast and will be buildable, while the darker ones will cover the rest of the map that is not close to the coast and will be unbuildable.

And these were all the tiles that we're going to use for our game, at least for now.

We hope you're enjoying seeing our progress so far,
