Finally got enemy projectiles working last night, thanks to a quick refresher in trig. In the next release, I will have an enemy that can spot the player from a much greater distance and make a ranged attack that follows the same physics laws as the players spell attack. Also starting to research particle emitters and such.
New concept art for the UI and south courtyard is up, thanks to Adam Beardall. I'm happy to see new art ideas starting to take shape, really motivates me to push on and continue developing.
New music as the cello tracks were just too expensive. So I am taking the music in a different (affordable?) direction. New environment assets in game now thanks to Adam, one of the two new artist helping me out. Players now spawn at the cross after a death, as spawning near a fellow player was not working as I expected. It's no fun spawning into your buddies sword swing only to die again and possibly repeat the process.
New game mode and player 3 are now in the game. I should have much better art assets in the game soon, as I have a couple 2D game art folks helping me out now. Player 4 is next and then its back to my feature list. A pvp game mode is pretty high up that list along with more defense blocks and random NPC vendors during the day.
Just about to wrap up a new game mode, so now there is CoOp mode, which players share EXP. Players level together based on working together, regardless of who is doing what. I feel this promotes teamwork, as CoOp mode should. Then we have CoOptional, where players do not share EXP and level up based on their own actions. This is slightly more competitive in nature and probably results in the thieving of items, etc... Also, I now have the means to test players 3 and 4, so I plan to start putting them into the game very soon.
Candle Keep 1001 contains; title screen(finally), new map layout, bug fixes(lots), torch system, gameover stat screen.
I am talking with a few cool people who will possibly be helping with art, as anyone can see the art sucks. That said, I hope to have a much better LOOKING game soon. Also, while messing around on the gameover screen, a friend and I realized we really enjoyed dueling one another. So we are in the process of designing a pvp mode for the game, more on that later.
Please have gamepad plugged in PRIOR to starting the demo. The game is currently 2 player, with plans to bring in player 3 and 4 soon.
