Caffeine is a quirky science fiction fusion of first person psychological horror, adventure and environmental puzzles. Confused and alone, you start to explore this seemingly derelict space station finding cryptic notes and messages everywhere you look, could these be clues to what has happened?"
Hi guys, I decided to put up a better representation of the quality of this game so far, compared to the first 720p video this one is in full HD along with tweaked objects, normal maps, textures and the addition of my own post FX which adds Vignette and lens dust :) Enjoy! Don't forget to share if you like what you see!
Hey cool concept.
Some things I wanted to point out:
00:30 - 00:40 there is a texture hiccup (not sure why the inclusion of blood so suddenly and have it just be two identical splatters)
00:45-00:50 when you turn to fast there is a hiccup with the lighting / shadows (there is quite a few light pop ins and texture / appearance related issues)
The use of lens flares with every light is a bit strange and I think messes with the environment in a negative way.
Its an interesting concept and it looks cool however some design choices with this should be reconsidered for the sake of the atmosphere.
Keep up the good work.
Thanks for providing some insight :) I shall fiddle around with some things :D Cheers :P
Yeah I agree with ENP, nice concept for a game however the lens flares are way to huge for the given light source which doesnt actually have cast of lighting to help with the lens flare effect.
The blood as mentioned by ENP also looks sort of weird..
The shadow (block with no distinct object/monster characteristics) at 1:40 moves across the screen before the sound plays
The table, chairs and the kitchen area are not scaled to proper life size proportions.
The water drop sound near the end ((when the player drops into the water) sounds to generic, I think it needs a bit more of an ompff to it, it sounds like you took a huge dump.
However the presentation/concept of this project is outstanding for a single person project. I hope to see more in the future.
Hey mate, yeh all the sounds are place holders at the moment, I have a Composer putting together some original stuff atm :), a heap has changed since this video :D The way I do my levels is create a rough design like this one and then go through and detail everything and make sure all is right, also with the scale, you play as a kid as the description in the game states aha :)
thanks for the input dude, having so many people commenting on all of this is great :D
that's some scary **** right there
