I LOVE Automata Logistica!
The driving is great, and with the manual transmission and not needing to clutch is very fun.
The levels are very unique and very exciting, without being too hard. (Except for one)
The art style is excellent, the rounded flat coloured shapes making up the world and the truck are beautiful, and the lack of textures lets me run this smooth on even 64mb of video ram!
And that leads to how well the game runs, which is excellent! Even on a 2003 laptop, the game achived a constant 60fps!
I have had a great time playing the game, going through all the benchmarks, competing with my friends to see who can get the most deliveries in 5 mins on the freeroam, I forgot that this game is still in alpha!
The only complaint that I have is on Benchmark 07, the breakable stairs are near impossible to get over without them breaking. I took me probably about 75 attempts to finally get lucky and spider onto the platform at the end. Perhaps they need to be slightly stronger?
And some small problems are that sometimes the gear starts in 4th or reverse which is annoying, always starting in 1st or neutral would be nice, and the default control of change gears on R and F are awkward (at least for me) to use, I found it easier using PageUp and PageDown nicer to use. Being able to put it on the scrollwheel would be better I think as then I can always be moving the camera and ready to change gear.
Other than that, I think Automata Logistica is perfect! It never crashed or had any glitches, the only problems I found are my fault for not being very good, and the game is great fun for hours!
I can't wait for the final game to be released!! :)
Glad you enjoyed it. There is a new update out that adds two player split screen and some other tweaks, maybe better benchmarks and mouse controls will make it into the next.
