Intro
Hey there! Welcome to this week's roundup of the YouTube, where we covered two very recently released Half-Life community mods (and one in particular captured people's interest quite a lot!)
Monday - Shorts - The Forgotten City
Every crime is capital and all will suffer for it in The Forgotten City, the since gone-commercial Skyrim mod that sees you uncovering mysteries in time within an ancient Dwarven city. Don't lose sight of your final objective and be willing to take risks in your quest to solve the Golden Rule - because a rewind is ready whenever you need it.
Thirteen years in the making, Field Intensity is a mod that, like Opposing Force, puts you in the shoes of the military men sent to cleanup Black Mesa's mess. Unlike Opposing Force, however, your orders are clear - no witnesses. As your squad is picked off one by one, and when no one in the facility wants your help anymore, the only ally you have left - is yourself.
Some game for high-octane action, but others like the task based formula of farming and resource management games. Put this into VR, and you've got Township Tale - a ranch management game that is the perfect way to unwind after a complicated day. Gather a few friends, and you can inject a little more action with collective dungeon crawling and problem solving.
Survival horror is a difficult feat for Source mods to muster. However, The Apocalypse manages such gameplay in a total conversion setting, onboard a distant colony ship gone wrong. Vast, meteorological intelligences and mutant bird men are only scratching the surface - so stick around for a terrifying glimpse onboard the XSS Ecclesiastes...
On the surface, Watching Paint Dry is a gimmick mod with 30 seconds of entertainment value - but dig deeper and you'll find paint takes quite a long time to dry indeed. Multiple endings, a mystery, and battles you have no chance of winning will keep you hooked and trying every alternate route and searching every cranny for another path you've missed.
That's all for this round-up. What do you think about the mods listed? Feel free to discuss below and check out the YouTube for more videos past, present, and future!
Appreciate the mention and video, David!
No problem! Keep up the great work.
