So, I recently wanted to start playing Forces of Corruption again.

I inserted my gold Pack disc, and the menu pops up for choosing whether to play regular EaW or FoC. I click FoC, and I hear the disc drive run for a bit (about 10 seconds), then nothing happens.

My disc drive seems to be working fine, as I inserted a couple of other games, and they played fine, but I can't seem to get FoC working.

I have no mods installed atm, btw.

Bump. Can anyone help me? This is a most obnoxious issue.

Bump. No one? No one at all? Well, shows how helpful this forum is...

I try to help, I always try to help on this forum, probably still one of the few.

Did you checked the disc for any issues like physical damages? You could try using a non-official no-cd "patch" to fix this problem.

Oh, hey. Someone who actually responded. Thanks! :D

The disc is in near-perfect condition, and I've tried several patches. I've tried the RAM patch, I've tried the Vista patch (even though I'm running xp), and I've tried some other .exe files that were supposed to fix the problem, but nothing has come up.

I'm wanting to believe it has something to do with the fact the XP isn't supported anymore, but I fear it's probably deeper than that, as this comp has hidden issues that pop up all the time.

I don't know of the type of patch you're referring to, but if you could provide a link that would be much appreciated; several people have told me the type of patch I could try out, which results in me going to several sites finding the same type of patch, and none of them working. One patch even said that it couldn't find Forces of Corruption in my computer at all.

If your computer has issues, you want to address those first before thinking the game or disk isn't working.

Ok, I've done some things myself, and conclude that it has to be that Gold Pack disc.

I have the Star Wars The Best of PC Game Collection, and vanilla EaW works fine from that, which it didn't from the gold pack disc. Afterwards, I installed FoC from the Gold Pack disc, and tried to launch the game from the Gold Pack launcher, but to no avail.

When I click on the vanilla EaW button in the Gold Pack launcher, it asks me to insert the original disc, but this was expected.

Both games seem to have installed fine form the disc, with no problems during installation. Just getting them to play afterwards from the Gold Pack disc is the problem.

Something I think I should note is that before, when I would go to launch the game, my cursor would turn into a disc, and it does this with the Best of PC version of the vanilla game. However, when trying to launch FoC from the Gold Pack disc, it does not do this.

I'm going to look for a "No-disc" patch as aforementioned, and see what this turns up.

Thanks again for the replies, guys. :D

Edit: So, I found A no cd patch, and the game acts as if it will start. It gets to the screen where it shows the FoC logo, then an error sound occurs and it freezes. Alt-tabbing out shows an error message, titled 'Expect Strange Bugs..." and is read as follows:

"xml parse error - File .\Data\XML\GUIDialogs.xml; file has syntax errors, see log file."

The patch comes as an edited exe, if I'm correct. the file name is "swfoc.exe" the file that I downloaded also has a .exe file for the Launcher.

Any idea what this means? I have no knowledge of such things...

Bump: Can anyone give me anything? Something, please?

Bump: Nobody? Nobody at all?

Bump: So no one knows anything about this issue? Cuz, I still can't find anything on it.
