Post feature Report RSS Into the Depths: Life and Legends in the Mine

Step into the stark and challenging world of 'The Mine.' In my latest piece, I reveal the tough lives of characters like Sigvard, Bror, and Gunnar, facing the dangers of toxic fumes and the constant threat of accidents. Rarely do miners live past 40 in this environment, where superstitions and the fear of witchcraft are ever-present. 'The Mine' offers an immersive journey into the life and legends of 17th-century miners.

As we've ventured into the new year, here's an intriguing update on my game, focusing on the challenging and mysterious world of a mining setting.

Working Miner

The miners faced an extremely inhospitable environment. Inhaling toxic fumes made their work even more difficult, and living beyond 40 was considered fortunate, as many succumbed to lung diseases and were often too ill to work.

Accidents were a common occurrence, prompting the establishment of a hospital near the mining site. This initiative was more about financial concerns than the workers' well-being, as the loss of manpower meant a loss of revenue. The idea was to quickly rehabilitate the miners so they could return to work.

An Injured Miner

Among the characters in my game are Sigvard and Bror, a close-knit duo always seen working together, staying well-informed of the latest rumors and happenings above and below ground. Another intriguing character is Gunnar, a superstitious figure working in the mines. His fear of ghosts adds to his challenges, especially during a time when being accused of witchcraft was common and dangerous.

Sigvard & Bror

Buckets lined with oxhide to reduce wear were a key element in the traditional ore extraction method used by miners like Sigvard, Bror, and Gunnar. They tirelessly filled these buckets with ore and raised them from the shafts. Horses, integral to this process, tirelessly dragged these heavy buckets, aiding in the transportation of the ore to nearby facilities for processing and smelting.

Bucket raised

With only three weeks to go until the release, in my next piece, I'll be highlighting the smithy in 'The Mine'. You'll get a closer look at Henrik, the local smith, and his smithy. Don't miss out on this one!

Get ready to explore these depths on January 26th. Add it to your wishlist on Steam now and dive into this underground adventure!
