Another week of Ale Abbey's development, in review!

Posted by on

Details to triple-check, issues to delve into... Still, week after week, we get those hours clocked in and Ale Abbey is getting closer to completion. Not trying to hype you up, yet, just letting you know that development is going swimmingly.

In this week's Something's Brewing we are bringing you progress on multiple fronts once again. The first Laywoman design, a new piece of equipment to adorn and buff your Brewery, and of course last week's midsection matter which although still WIP, is being dealt with just fine ;)

Read on!

-- Monastery wall cavities

Following last week's efforts to solve the Monastery midsections issue, we have something new, and quite fitting to share with you. The idea, as mentioned in last week's post, came from our pixel artist, Raimo, who quickly connected a few dots and figured that metroidvanias, really do answer the question of what's the best way to fill midsections and otherwise unused wall cavities.

And zooming out to show it along the rest of the Monastery and how promising it looks so far (don't you mind them barren midsections).

-- New Brewery extras!

And one for the parts for which work never stops, a new extra piece of equipment appears in the Abbey. This time a multidisciplinary addition to the Brewery room, the Workbench! Following but a very superficial sketch to showcase, Raimo delivered one again. "Busy," interesting, and very realistic... here it is in its very detailed, pixelated glory.

Although both versions are still WIP we've slowly started testing them on normal scenes in the Abbey. Always good to know how well everything fits together, after all.

Oh, and coincidentally - *hint* *hint* - next week we might be talking a bit more about furniture and other equipment that find their way in front of windows.

-- First Laywoman design

And, although she has been showcased before, we now go deeper into creating her assets, the first Laywoman in the Abbey. Strong, stubborn, efficient, and very dependable. Animations should be underway, as soon as we fix some WIP aesthetic issues (and you bet that lonely tooth ain't one of them).

-- Beer and diet

The holidays are long gone, the tree and all its lights are back in their dusty storage, but there are a couple of "extras" that just won't leave you alone... yet, you still want to enjoy your beer during these troubled, demanding times.

So what tricks can you use to alleviate that burden?

  • Moderation: Limit your alcohol intake to moderate levels. This generally means up to one drink per day for women and up to two drinks per day for men.
  • Calorie Awareness: Be mindful of the calories in beer. Light beers typically have fewer calories than regular or craft beers. Consider the calorie content and choose accordingly.
  • Choose Wisely: Different types of beer have varying alcohol content and nutritional profiles. Light beers, for example, often have fewer calories and lower alcohol content.
  • Balance: If you choose to have a beer, be mindful of the other food and drink choices you make throughout the day. Try to balance your overall caloric intake and make healthy food choices.
  • Hydration: Alcohol can contribute to dehydration, so make sure to drink plenty of water alongside your beer to stay hydrated.
  • Avoid High-Sugar Mixers: If you're having mixed drinks with beer, be cautious of high-sugar mixers, as they can add extra calories. Opt for lighter mixers or use soda water.

Works for some, not so much for others, but the one thing you can be sure about is that leaving the beer on the side for a little while won't hurt its feelings. It's made to wait for you, patiently! So take your time, get ready, and then enjoy the fruits of your efforts (in moderation!) :D

As always, enjoy your weekend responsibly, and join us next week for more Ale Abbey news!
