Game testing sessions and updates in the development!

Posted by on

Hello, indieDB Community!

Welcome to the 11th article about our in development game, Freedom's Path.

If you want to learn more about our game, check out previous articles.

This past week we had the accomplishment of being able to test our game once again, but this time with more content to it. We have been analyzing the feedback, trying our best to improve our game and make something enjoyable to play.

With this test we received some official feedback on our game UI, game art and game programming. There were some bugs in the lights, currently fixed, and a perspective of what could be improved to make the player more aware of its surroundings - for example, what builds can we go behind, what the character looks like hiding behind objects, etc!

The character overall looks good but needs improving to fit more in the environment and that it's currently going through a war set. Some assets need to be improved, but since it's all still a work in progress, it was to be expected!

To make the second part of the level, this feedback was a must. We started the map and assets for that part already, and hopefully soon we can show it to you all!

To not leave you all hanging, here's some images how the game is looking so far....

With this, we decided to add collectables to the game. It has been on our mind since we started making it! By adding a new mechanic, game design components had to be re-made, to fit the game. Here's how our Game Loops look like:

With the creation of a level, its necessary to add signs and feedbacks. Its important for players to know what is intractable, what helps and prejudice, etc. We are adding sounds and little animations in the game that will make it even more immersive! A special post regarding sounds and the special elements will be made!

Time is passing by and we are making steady progress. Hope you guys stick around to see the end of it!

See you next week!
