WazHack is a procedurally-generated dungeon game. This is not a button mashfest - you can spend all the time you need contemplating your actions. With over 300 different types of items to be found, there are many different ways to deal with the more than 130 different types of monsters. You will have to use your sword or staff as much as your inventory. It's not a game of plodding to the end and winning (though it is winnable), it's about experiencing the attempt... and learning lessons that will help your next valiant attempt!

I know that this game is based on NetHack but the game mechanics aren't exactly the same. So I wanted to post a couple questions and use this thread for my later myriad Qs that inevitably pop up. I really enjoy figuring things out on my own (part of the enjoyment with Roguelikes) but I'd like some basic underlying mechanics to be clarified.

1) How does armor effect spellcasting? Differences between casting in Leather and 'Heavy' metal armors?

2) Same regarding using bows.. does having on metal armor give any penalties to shooting bows, or even thrown weapons?

3) Classes - are the only differences in classes their starting attributes and equipment? Also, is there any difference between the two sexes availabe for each class other than a slight attribute limit difference?

4) Can one spellcasting school "push out" it's opposite school's use-xp bar if the grey experience bar has hit level 1, but the player doesn't choose to level it up?

Thanks to anyone with answers! :)

Also-

What are the effects of the attributes?

a) Notably, what is the spellcasting difference between Wisdom and Intelligence? Does INT only pertain to the topmost "dark" spell schools, and WIS the other "light" ones? Or are they mixed in some way for all schools?

b) Does DEX effect anything other than the Hit chance on attack?

c) Is CHA only related to vendor prices?

I guess a good rundown on each attribute would be nice. The in-game "tutorial" tips didn't really say much.

1. All metal affects casting, and it does so purely based on weight.

2. Metal does not affect bowmanship.

3. Yes, that's the only differences. The sexes are like slight variations - the hunter vs. huntress are the same except for equipment.

4. Yes, opposing school points push, so effectively you can only have 5 pts in life and death in total.

The best of INT or WIS is used for intelligence.

CHA also affects the duration of tame ness.

I'll not list all affects, especially because I add more over time. The affects should be "logical", and the boneheaded tutor tells about the main uses.
