Sid is a fiction author struggling with a creative block, attempting to recapture the feelings of inspiration he felt when he was younger. In order to pay the bills, he needs to think up a story and apply for a grant - the deadline is today - a lazy Sunday in the middle of summer.

On this Sunday, his struggle is disturbed by an invitation to attend an unavoidable family obligation - The place Sid grew up in is about to be sold, and his mother wants him to come home for a small party so he can say goodbye to it. With the deadline approaching and his creative juices having frozen, this is not something he's looking forward to.

Join Sid as he reluctantly journeys back home, meets old friends, relives memories and attempts to kick start his creativity back into gear. Also take part in his creative process as you play through interactive sections depicting the story he's attempting to write.

Forgotten Fields is a warm, cozy game about nostalgia, creativity, appreciating the present, and the passage of time - a meditation on impermanence and the shortness of life.

Hi Frostwood,

I really enjoyed that!

It was nice to see your thought process, I'm not a coder, composer and sometimes a cnc programmer...So to be able to see it from your perspective, decision wise and reasons why, was really enlightening.

I can hear clarity in the audio, I was listening hard for noise on the train sound, it sounds like a real train, but the click of the wheels skipping on rail tracks is so clean above the noise floor at the end of the loop, that I thought it might be synthesis, you did say it was a 30 sec clip...so...is it a real train?

Nice touch on the tree shadows...

And finally, I want to encourage you, the idea behind the game is thoughtful, introspective, and in a lot of ways, cathartic! well done, I am impressed, I think you might have a hit, it piqued my interest...

Hi, thanks for the kind comment! :)

I'm not sure about the origin of the train sound as it's a royalty-free sound I found online. I do think it's a recording and not a synthesized one though!

Thanks for the encouragement, glad you like the idea for the game, and I'd love it if players found it cathartic too! That's exactly why I want to make and share this story :)
