Introduction

Hello! My name is Scotty Venable and I am the Creative Director for "Cerebrum", a game I plan on creating. I've been involved in the concept and ideas phase for over a year now and I'm looking to add some creative people to the team to help flesh this wonderful story into an amazing video game.

Game Synopsis

It is an age where artificial intelligence has taken over humanity. Humans no longer roam the physical world. Instead, their consciousness is uploaded to a vast cyber network- a digital world known as Cerebrum. One of these alters, Mark, has no idea that he is participating in one of the most sinister experiments ever created. That is until a brief glitch in Cerebrums database causes a select few to develop "The Sense", the rare ability to bypass the advanced suppression technology of Cerebrum and think freely. With no knowledge of their past, Mark and a growing group of alters possessing "The Sense" must come together to convince others of this horrible truth and stop Cerebrum from the inside once and for all.

Gameplay

The game will appear like an advanced computer terminal. All interactions and events happen on this terminal. Since the majority of alters are just a consiousness in a database, it makes sense that all their interactions and exploration is terminal-based. The team will be using Unity for development and HacknPlan for planning.

Dynamic Skill System

Players will need to use their developing skills to either force their way through with Intention, hack and craft with Intelligence, or convince and lie with Charisma. Players may also need to use their Willpower to resist others attempting to breach your mind and their Fortitude to resist viruses and increasing the total amount of Neural Stability. It must be noted that if your Neural Stablility drops to 0, your data is wiped from the system. However, it may not be the end. Some Datapoints you come across may allow you to copy your alter state for a fee, allowing you to reform if your current state becomes unstable.

Exploring a Diverse Digital Universe

Along the way, the player will encounter other alters. Some may be friendly and offer trading with Units, or may be malicious and seek to wipe you from the database and collect your Units and Neural Data. You may also stumble upon AI constructs seeking to remove all who posess "The Sense" from Cerebrum. Each location Mark "visits" are known as datapoints and can contain various pieces of lore, alters, or enemies to fight. Some quests may require you to revisit datapoints which is where the Navigator menu comes in handy. The Navigator stores all locations you've been to for quick access and fast travel, however the further the datapoint is from Mark, the more time and Neural Data it will take to get there.

Vast History

As Mark traverses through the database of Cerebrum, he will come across many different pieces of information about the history of the world and how it got to where it is today. You'll discover history on events, locations, and notable characters that may give you the upperhand in future interactions. Information is vital and sometimes can be the difference between life and death. All this information will be kept in an orgainized journal that they player can view anytime. This is one of the reasons that having a dedicated Creative Team is important for this project!
