Game seems to crash every time I attempt to re-select the same voice pack for a hero (to listen through the samples) .
Other than that haven't found any other bugs yet .
Great mod , nicely done .

Ssrathi dragonmaster skill does not work on dinosaurs expect ptyrodactyl and just to remind crictical cleave bug. Thanks.

The critical cleave missing appears to be when it is striking a unit that's moving away. However, there is a feature where a melee attacker will always cause a "miss" (1 damage) when it attacks an enemy unit that has moved more than 2 squares away from it.
In which case it's intentional and happens with all units - it's just that it's really obvious with critical cleave in play. But making the effect not play in this situation is probably what needs to be done.

The Dragonmaster skill was probably a typo left over from a 1.03.23 text file, where Dragonmaster was buffed to affect all Dinosaurs.

Only the critical cleave attack type does 1 damage if the target is moving away, all other attacks land regardless. I think I'd count it as a bug since it is technically unfair that a strike which could potentially kill a unit with any other damage type would fail to do so with Slashing.

I'd probably prefer it if Dragonmaster did effect Dinosaurs or maybe even did something different, then the Ssrathi could have a unique racial Dinomaster skill or something that specifically buffs dinosaurs (since Ssrathi would pretty much be the only race which invests in Dragonmaster so I think it would be best to make that effect racial).

Yeah that is true. So how about making dragonmaster skill be special for dragonslayer class and dinosourmaster skill as ssrathi racial skill? (just an idea)

I found a bug about quarriying, gemcutting, wealth and smelting skills. The values under the resources are showing +1 resource per second right? But when ı got for example smelting skill 5 actually it should be 75 metal per minute but at value it shows +5 which means 300 metal per second so it is overpowered somehow. But items are working correctly. I got two pouch of endless gold and totally they have 1.5 gold per second and it shows +2 so it works correctly. Only bug is at skills.

I have a hero with gemcutting level three and the helm of Korum (45 per minute stone) , just tested a game without my wisps (only the skill and item for resources , no mines etc) and he had +3 stone +3 crystal per second at start , +0 to gold and metal naturally .
I have noticed the mine rates differ from the original game (level three was 2 per second , now is 4?) , maybe all the rates were doubled but descriptions not changed , just guessing though .

Income rates were untouched. However, the vanilla game (or its guide) lied about income rates as the game uses a unique formula to gather resources based on set number. Each +1 for a resource refers to 15 of that resource across a minute (Like what the Hero skills say). So a mine that offers +4 would give 60 a minute (1 per second).

That means a level 3 mine has always offered 60 a minute (1 per second) and the numbers in TPC shown below the resource amounts refer to the actual number the mine system uses to generate the resource. Basically, multiply that number by 15 to see exactly how much resource you gain per minute. Then divide that number by 60 to see what you get per second.

We will probably fix this display issue in the future, to avoid confusion.

Yes you were right I tested my own by using a chronometer. I counted 1 minute for smelting skill which is +32 in game speed ''medium''. At the end it almost gave 480 metal. Only a small difference happened like 15-20 metal or something. Skill works correctly but with a little error.

Can you write me down a list of which units are counted as ''Monster''?
(For taming skill)

They should still be the same as the vanilla game. In which case the wiki should help here. (http://etheria.wikia.com/wiki/Races)

Unfortunately, there's no single page that lists them all (yet) so you'll need to visit the each race pages. (I recommend the "overview" pages for each race and not each individual unit page)
I.E: The Minotaur armies overview page (http://etheria.wikia.com/wiki/Minotaur_Units) shows that Basilisks, Bats and Griffons are monsters. Typically though, most fliers will be monsters.

Just unzip the hotfix over the 0.8.6 install, overwriting the .exe when asked. That should do it.

Hi, I've got this recently, and have had a couple problems getting it to run.
This is on a Windows 7 machine.

What I did to fix first time was set the compatibility to XP service pack 3.

Later, I set the background of the PC to windows basic (killing the aero crap), and The Protectors wouldn't start up.

To fix that, I changed the compatibility to Windows 7, and it works fine again.

I've had issues like this with other games before. It was purely the monitor not transitioning correctly to the right resolution. WBC3 always starts at 800x600 resolution, which is very low by modern day standards and your monitor is likely not happy dropping down to this, especially if you have a much higher desktop resolution.

I assume this happens in the main menu, but does this also happen when in an actual game? The resolution set in the options menu only affects the actual game - not the menus.
You may find that once you are in an actual game, your monitor may correct itself. Failing that, you could always try turning your monitor off once this happens. Then turn it back on.

That is also very fine by the way what is the mechanism of vamprism?? Because it seems like doesn't works sometimes and sometimes it steals half of it or u percent of it. Can you give brief information about how vamprism works?

Reply Good karma Bad karma+1 vote
Patrick_Winekiller Author

If you have say +3 Vampirism, you will get the minimum between your vampirism skill (3) and the damage dealt. Generally this means you will get +3 hit points, unless your hit is a miss (deals 1 damage, so it gives +1 hit point). It's not percent, neither for heroes nor for units.

Run the game with a compatibility option (I advise Windows XP SP3). This can be set by simply right clicking on "The Protectors.exe", choosing "options" and click on the Compatibility tab. Then check where it says "Run program with compatibility mode for" and choose Windows XP.

However if you hack "The Duernothian Cult" (Custom Chapter) with your hero, there is a map you win an Ancient Giant for your retinue (if you find him and if he survives until the end of the battle - His name is Tobias).

You can also get an Ancient Giant out of the Pyramid quest building. The quest requires you to kill 30 enemies. If the Giant survives the battle, he may offer to join your retinue.

how i can hack custom chapter with my hero???

Reply Good karma Bad karma0 votes
ZeTo49
ZeTo49 - - 402 comments

1 - Go to "My Documents/The Protectors"
2 - Copy HeroDataTPC.xcr
3 - Paste it inside "C:/The Protectors" folder (or wherever is the location your game is)
4 - Rename it to HeroDataCustomChapters.xcr (there is already one there, so you must delete it first or store it somewhere else)
5 - Open The game and play the "C. Chapter".

If your hero is higher than level 7, the game might be easy (this custom chapter is prepared for a Dwarf hero)
There are at least 6 types of units that can become your retinue, one is the Ancient Giant named Tobias (you will find it in the Duernoth Ambush, if you explore the map).
