Hello and welcome to a new segment for Surreal System! Every week we will be introducing to you a new ability in the form of a written explanation, pieces of concept art and uses in-game.
Abilities are what Surreals have been entitled to do with their minds. There are theories that state that the mind, when completely unleashed, can do so much as to even alter matter itself! In Surreal System, these theories are put to work and offer choices so that the player can approach an obstacle or objective multiple ways!
Week 2 - Piping
Week 2 - Piping
Piping in Surreal System is the ability to summon small creatures in extreme amounts to come to your aid and attack multiple enemies at once. They can also be used as a distraction and sneak attack!
Real story:
Scientist for centuries have been testing the idea that animals, especially smaller ones, react to high-pitched sounds and noises. The tests have included everything from playing music to small bleeps and sounds.
In the 16th century there was a story about a Pied Piper, in which the piper was a rat-tamer hired by the town to lure rats away with his magic pipe. This was the inspiration for the name and the idea about the reaction to music.
Surreal System:
What this means is that, if we could unlock 90% of our brain power, could we send out pulses of sound from our minds that could alter the thoughts of smaller critters? This is the idea behind piping in the world of Surreal System.
Now, how can this be used to your advantage? Lets state a scenario:
You hear noises around the corner and know that there are a few Peace Keepers camping out in that area. You don't feel like dealing with them so you use you piping ability to attack them and run past them as they struggle to deal with the various creatures thrown their way.
Or
You decide to have a little fun and take them on. There are three of them and two rush you right away. You summon your creatures and they attack them as the third runs at you. You deal with him and then use Sifting to pick up the body and chuck it at the other two!
The combinations are fun and many! (:
