So here we are. After 'I, Mayor' I'm back with a new game that will be released soon.
I spent some time working on other stuff like an hex-field-top-down-building-simulation or an anno-like strategy game, but now I finally got to where I wanted to be.
'Super Knight World'. It is a retro adventure jump and run where you navigate our hero through the levels, fight against evil enemies and you will collect stuff to beat the highscore. All the excitement is packed into a charming retro graphic style with pixel objects and nature and baddies like in the old days. The look and feel of a classic 8bit console adventure!
So how has the game progressed so far? Well, of course I started with programming the engine. It is a basic polygon engine, which is capable of checking the collision of two polygons, drawing the polygons' images and handling physics. Of course there is more to it, but that is the most important and also graphical stuff. So, without the images yet in the game, the shades of the first level looked like the following. With the small rectangle and the bigger but slim rectangle being the sword and the enemy.
Then, after adding a big load of graphics and animations the game came to look like this.
With the game so far being playable, there had to be new stuff for the player to be doing aside from actually jumping and running. The baddies.
Currently, the game features four different enemies.
First up, the counterpart of the good knight - the bad knight.
He will not only run after you, but he will also fight back - with his sword. So be aware, true combat lies ahead.
The snake is the crawling bad animal you just do not want around you. Better give it a good treatment with your blade.
Just so creepy are these guys. How should you know what the evil priests want? Well never mind that, just whack 'em right away before the get too clingy.
Wobbeling around on the ground. But far more dangerous than they look. The globb preferably lives in the dark. And does not want to be disturbed.
Levels, there are three so far. And that is what I am working on right now. Whilst developing more on programming I am also working on adding more game content. The latter being the needier side of the game since the engine and the gameplay are just about to be finished.
