Do you miss some old-school arcade fun?
Guts & Glory is going to be a fun, arcade-ish PvP dogfighting shooter. It will be playable in single player and multiplayer, supporting both local PvP and LAN.
Ready for Takeoff!
The prototype covers the basic dogfighting mechanics as well as some of the effects. After a week of playtesting, it provided the final go-ahead for the full game:
The red plane ("Glory") is P1 and the black plane ("Guts") is CPU. The clouds are a bit exaggerated and the camera work is far from perfect but, it's a start.
Ambitious (Flight) Plan
Guts & Glory is planned to have the following features:
- Single-Player and Two-Player (Local and LAN) PvP dogfights
- Booster crates with perks and surprises
- Ground targets to shoot at or that shoot at you
- Weather and sun effects
- Flocks of geese
The beta release is planned for April 1st. That's 2014. I don't want to drag the development for too long, so it's going to be an interesting challenge.
The Next Waypoint
The plan for next week is to establish the game structure design: menus, levels, progress and achievements. Once this is done, the game framework will be developed and tested through-out a few simple levels.
